Don't be like me and wait too long!

Hi everyone! Thank you for joy! Its funny about chair selection.. My kitchen table has hard chairs.. They usually are agony to rise from. That's why I almost hollered with joy at a pain free rising from a hard seat in front of 15 people who don't know me well!
My car seats are comfy when sitting but getting out.. And I rotate sideways then stand.. I still have acetabular cartilage but the head of the femur is deformed( more like a rod than a ball).. It can move when it is on an edge of something..

My couch OTOH has never given me problems and its low and squishy..

Like why pain is here one day and gone the next ...boggles the mind to find the reason.. I just now mentally look at a chair and kind of brace myself for the experience.. Or not.. Now I have to sweep the floor.. The computer chair I am sitting on is very comfortable. It is an office chair.
Till I stand..
Maybe I better stay here..

Hello :hi:
It's nice to read you enjoyed your time with the embroidery club. I do think our pain takes a back seat when we're engaging with others through conversation and laughter. I'm happy you found a bit of a respite from the discomfort and pain.

I love sleeping in a cooler room. It seems I sleep more soundly. Pillows help too. In recovery, I couldn't have enough. One on this side, another under my arm on that side. One between the legs etc. it was like being in a fort and also very comforting.

The brewpub crawl on Saturday sounds fun but I'll bet it tires you. Maybe you can carry some Ziplock bags in your handbag and if you're hurting ask a bartender to fill one with ice so you're able to sip / ice at the same time.

Happy you enjoyed the gardens in Boothbay. I'll have to put it on the list for next time we get there.
Have a wonderful day!
@mainegirl1

Pain is a odd thing @mainegirl1 I agree. I had a horrible Mon with pain however after driving home I was pain free, weird. After dinner I thought maybe I should do something around the house.... so I went to bed and had a much needed full night sleep.:yes!:

LOL.. So much better than vacuuming! Today was another OK day.. even with several flights of stairs..Funny how I can go foot over foot one day and not for the next six....

The zig-zag of life before surgery will mirror recovery, some days are definitely better than others, and some days everything seems so much harder and painful. I guess we all just need to suck it up, accept that it is what it is, and try to focus on the fact that things will definitely be crazy and sometimes difficult until we get rid of this pesky hip! Hope today is a good one for you, @mainegirl1

Today was fine too!
But I did not do much
I learned how to make homemade ricotta!
Then lasagna with no noodles!
I read a whole book in the sun
Hubby cleaned the mess I made in the kitchen!
And i am starting a new embroidery project

Waiting for the hammer to fall!

Wow, @mainegirl1, impressive work at staying busy and distracted. August probably feels very far in the distance, but keeping yourself occupied and not focused exclusively on that miserable hip will definitely serve you well in the weeks and months leading up to surgery.

Today the anxiousness of my mind is stronger than the pain. I’m one that usually is the strong one mentally but this second time around is crushing me.

Hello @mainegirl1
Wow...you're busy and had a productive day so far.
Lasagna with no noodles...I'll need to look that one up.
I hope you have a relaxing evening and a great Monday. :)

Today started out bad day. hobbling around house zingers
Hubby asked if I wanted to stay home
Heck no

We had a lovely drive and a four hour canoe paddle
I forgot to notice pain for the most part
Finished with supper at a lobster pound!

There is something so uplifting about being outdoors
I hope everyone waiting can get out even if in a garden to read a book!

That is very true, @mainegirl1 !!Unfortunately , today here in Miami area it rained ALL day..hard. It’s also really hard to sit..gosh..a canoe paddle sounds glorious. My daughter left yesterday for her post doc in Japan and I’m already missing her terribly. Guess that’s why my mind is over the edge. Did take a little Xanax..which helped.

:kayak:
Good for you.
I found a four foot water moccasin under my canoe today:shocked:for real.
Still went paddling!
Lasagna with no noodles
Um, okay...!? Meat sauce, then?

@Layla Lasagna is lasagna.. Just with out lasagna noodles. I stuffed the pan with zucchini, eggplant, portobelllo mushrooms, a little bit of italian sausage ( organic)from the butcher, spinach, marinara sauce, smoked mozzarella and homemade ricotta. No room for any pasta! No need for any pasta!
Now my downfall is carbs.. homemade bread and butter...but pasta is usually easy to resist.. Except garlic parmesan pasta...

I am trying to make my surgeon happy...

That Lasagna sounds really good, Mainegirl!
I need to try that. Who needs that carb laden pasta, right? Even though its good in there. :heehee:

Cauliflower roasted with red onion and fresh garlic...yummy!

Hopefully you had a nice weekend. We have a beautiful day on tap here.
Not too warm, but sunny. Just how I like it.
I hope your day is all you want it to be!
@mainegirl1

not a good series of days. Getting up the deteriorated head shifts and I scream. My poor husband has to do things I should be doing.. I don't feel very valuable at all. And I really do not want to see anyone as I don't want to subject them to my screaming when I get up..
I can sit all day( so I don't have to get up) but my cardiologist says don't: I have to walk..
I know this is temporary but..when you are disabled how do you feel better about yourself?
I don't see threads about pre op depression per se and how it affects others.
