Diane's Knee Quest finally the real deal

Wow @KarriB scary stuff indeed.

yanno in looking back to my hip nightmare, I had my oncologist at the time do my ekg as he was sorta acting as my pcp. When the results came back he said there was something questionable. He had me freaked out and I had to go to a cardiologist, and because of course I could not walk on a treadmill, had to go to the hospital and do a nuclear stress test, Well it was an annoying and stressful time, but after it all the cardiologist said I was fine and good to go. So maybe this whatever it is on the ekg is the same thing. But I did have an ekg just in march, at the same place, and it never said that. so what the heck.. just keep waiting and see what happens..

Gonna "try" not to stress over it

@KarriB that was a horrible way for your PCP to handle that...I can't even imagine what you went through!!!

dianehelen,
Since the one in March was normal I think one now will be the normal :fingersx:.
KarriB what a nightmare.

March was normal I think one now will be the normal
but why, if done in the same place by the same person, is the notation different? maybe as someone mentioned, I moved, or breathed..

Also odd, as I mentioned the disconnect beween dr office and pre op/anesthesia office, re being able to accept the march one, and needing a new one...

, who knows, a medication, too much coffee, you moved.
March was 5 months ago, they may have a 3 month window that they use, ask them when you go for your appointment.

When I hear someone say, "Now, just relax and don't breathe.", I tense up and feel like I want to pass out. What does that do to my vitals?! I am sure I'm not the only one who reacts this way. Just putting those electrodes and bp cup on me causes my bp to go up! There's got to be a better way to take these readings.

My husband's PCP told him that he's apt to have a stroke at any time because of clogged arteries. When I asked what we can do he said "drink lots of water." This was all said in a hall as we were leaving. I was totally dumbfounded. I really think all doctors need to be trained in communication! I am sure things will turn out fine for you. You are almost there. I'll be waiting for you on "the other side." That term always made me laugh. It sounds so grim. :) I listened to my favorite music frequently in the days before surgery. It helped relax me.

@Floridagal I know what you mean, that's why I don't like to say "See you on the other side", that's right up there anytime I used to say goodnight to my mother-in-law, she always replied "God willing", I always felt like I was going to be struck by lightning, or hit by a car and croak. hahaha

An EKG can be helpful but it is not the be-all or end-all of cardiac tests. It is just second up on the list, the first being the doctor listening and examining you. If they really want to know if something ails you, you will get a stress test, echocardiogram, etc. I wouldn't worry.

My suggestion re: other side is "healing side" - from here on it will be getting better every day.

Ok my polar glacier ice machine came today. Looks like a picnic cooler, but im guessing no picnic in sight.

@newlybionic question for you. I got the multi use xl long stem wrap on pad. Sure doesn't look very large. Also it doesn't ice the back of the knee. Aren't we supposed to ice that area too? How do we accomplish that?
Im gonna go play with it, but the pad seems kinda small. Ot is is marked xl multi use.

I always look on the bright side, a perfect counterpoint to my husband's pessimism. We balance each other out.

I will place a regular gel pad on the back of my knee if/when it is needed. For me it was only occasionally in the first weeks the first time around. It will cover the whole front of the knee where most of the swelling is. I usually put it on upside down from the pictures that came with it. I used it all night last night for 10 hours or so. No swelling n the morning for me!

Thanks for the confirmation @newlybionic . I can use a gel pak behind knee if needed. I set it up and tried it, it sure does get cold, guess that's the idea
