@Southernbelle, the leg hair thing
is funny. You know how it is worrying and trying to remember every little thing before surgery. I vowed not to make the same mistake this time as I did last time. I went over my pre op instructions with a fine toothed comb before my last surgery and nowhere in there did it say to not shave your legs.
I didn't want the surgical team distracted by my hairy gams...you know, wondering if a total hip replacement had ever been successfully performed on a half human - half Sasquatch creature, so I shaved 'em.
Then I got to reading here on the forum about not shaving your legs for a week prior to surgery and my expression was basically

The next day was my pre op appt and I admitted to my surgeon that I'd shaved my legs like it was my wedding night. He grinned and shook his head (he's used to my goofiness) and assured me it would be okay. Whew..crisis averted.

Waxing is awesome but I'm too chicken. That smarts! You're so right about how nice it is to be able to share our concerns here. I was so embarrassed to bring up some subjects my first time around, but everybody was great and assured me that TMI really had no meaning here.
Your son's work sounds fascinating. I doubt we'll ever live anywhere where I could go into that, but it sure does sound like fun.
I'm LOLing at Lila's mischievous streak. Little stinker! Blossom was a food obsessed girl. We always joked that it was fully her intent to trip us while we carried food, eat all that up, and then if we didn't get up, make a feast of us.

She was such a sweet girl. She was a Blenheim and had the sweetest eyes. I loved that doggy so much and miss her to this day.
Today was actually perfect cooking weather; cool and overcast. It put me right in the mood to tackle the scalloped potatoes. The mandoline worked like a charm! I don't know how I've managed without it for all these years. It's going to make doing sliced/julienned things so much easier.
We are planning to go see Mockingjay - Part 2 this weekend. We started seeing them with our daughter and now we're hooked!
Hi,
@Akshia!

Thank you for popping in. Oh goodness, I am generally
not this organized. I try to get things in order before surgery (this is my second) so I don't have to worry about anything afterwards. My husband is an awesome guy, but kitchen stuff is not his favorite thing. I figure if I can take care of the cooking beforehand, all he has to do is heat the dishes up and then take care of washing a few plates.

I see on the November Nimbles list that your surgery is on the 20th. I'll be sending out tons of good vibes for you! It is a lot to take in and worry about prior, but you're going to do just great! I'm hoping for a private room, or at least a good roommate, for both of us!

It's funny the things we worry about prior to surgery, isn't it? I'll admit, my legs were a big concern for me. I'm sure it's not like the surgeons haven't ever seen hairy legs, but I was determined mine would be nice and smooth. Looking back, I just shake my head and wonder, 'What was I thinking?' LOL!
I actually have the extended handle for razors and I really like it. I opted not to use it this time though because shaving seems to really irritate my dry legs right now. The Nair option is much better for me, I think.
Best wishes, Akshia. Pretty soon you'll be on the other side of this process and moving forward to a pain free life. Yaay!
@Hipster Girl, I cannot take credit for 'deforestation'. I heard that term from Nana757 and it made me

so I adopted it.
I think the dry electric shaver would be amazing to use. I'm not sure I am flexible enough to use one though. Did you find it easy to use even with your 90 restriction?
Well, the scalloped potatoes are done and dusted! I partially baked them and am waiting for them to cool a bit before putting them in the fridge to fully cool. Tomorrow I will put the top layer of shredded cheddar on them, wrap them in foil and transfer them to the freezer. After that, it's just the soup and enchiladas that need to be done.

I hope all of you are having a terrific day!
