THR Deep Breath Reporting for Recovery Duty

Vent away lass I know the scenario all too well. It is your choice about whom you want to converse with and your choice about if ever you want to take actions. One thought is she isn't getting anywhere with claim and wants you to claim so she can piggyback. I agree if you don't want contact to tell her what I would also stress is that you will not respond to any further attempts at contact. That way younhave told her do what you want I will not reply.
Poor you I have been there tho luckily it was social media and it took a while but in the end it did stop. Just stick to your guns don't repeat I don't want contact as each contact from you will make her think she can wear you down.

Legin THR Sep 14

Thanks, @Legin. It's just so frustrating to me. I have no desire whatsoever to sue my surgeon. I have no indication that he did anything untoward during my surgery and he's just been wonderful to me throughout this whole process. I hadn't thought of the piggyback thing. That makes sense. I just don't know why she is making such a ruckus about this, especially cooking up these conspiracy theories. She struck me as a deeply unhappy woman in the hospital, but now I am wondering if there isn't something more beneath the surface. Her behavior is simply not normal.
If she calls again I will simply tell her that I don't have any desire to talk to her and to quit calling me. I hate that. I really dislike confrontation and it makes me feel sick to be unkind to anybody. I guess it's better to be prepared for it though and just say it calmly and matter of factly. I'm okay until I lose my temper. I'm likely to say things I'll regret if that happens, and I don't want that.
Thanks for listening. :)

@Nana757, as always, thank you for your kind words. :) I am excited to see how I feel when all of this is done and dusted. I have dreams where I am just walking...nothing extraordinary or exciting...but they are the best dreams because I am walking without pain or a limp, like a 'normal' person. I wake up so happy from those dreams. One day hopefully that will be the reality! *squeal* :yes!:

@CricketHip, my OS said that I would likely gain about an inch in height. When you're a shorty, like me, you'll take any vertical upgrade! Your account of your hip difference and the visit to the chiropractor is an interesting one. I have wondered if I'll perhaps need an adjustment after all is said and done. My whole structure has problably been thrown out of whack due to my hips. My mother swore by her chiropractor. He made a huge difference in her quality of life.

@Doodles51, I so look forward to having the surgeries over with and be able to focus on healing and getting readjusted!
I tell you what, those scalloped potatoes were the bomb! Since we've been 'talking' about them, I'm thinking of throwing a batch together sometime next week. :)

Have a terrific day, Hippie Buddies!

Oh my gosh @DeepBreath! I just read your post about the roomie from hell! I think what I would do, the next time you get a message (or use one of the #'s you haven't blocked yet) is text her back and let her know you are doing fine and have no interest in joining in her lawsuit and would appreciate it if she didn't call again. Sounds harsh, I know, but you certainly don't need a nutcase/phone stalker in your life. Hopefully, she will get the hint. Good luck sweetie.

Hi @DeepBreath I think you are right when you say she is a very unhappy person and you need to shake her off as soon as possible. This is not what you need whilst recovering from a hip replacement.Just an idea but could you let her know that you don't want any further contact in a text. You have been so positive on this journey and it isn't fair that she trying to drag you down
The scalloped potatoes sound devine I was wondering if you would consider sharing the recipe

That is creepy that the roomie continues to call from different numbers. Obviously she realizes that are blocking her. I hope she gives up. Well, it looks like we'll both be making scalloped potatoes next week. Have a great weekend.

Oh Lawdy! girl, you sure do attract them! I tend to collect those , too. I have to be very careful in my practice because they want to be friends and just take liberties. oh my.
I like Nana's idea that if you can tell if one of those phone numbers is a mobile then text her and say you are interested and please don't call again.
Ironically, just yesterday I was thinking about your cracked femur and was mulling over the possibilities on that. I know you were in extreme pain before the surgery and I was thinking that you kind of knew when that started. So I was speculating that your joint was collapsing and the pressure just hit the end of your femur just right and crack! But hey, what if it did happen during the surgery? the OS has been so good to you and you are healing so well. there's always a risk, you know?
I am sure if he claimed cracked femurs on every single case that by now the military insurance company would be all over him. Good heavens, what a crazy theory.. I think I agree with her husband.. hahahaha

sigh, some people just suck the energy right out of the room.. ugh.
sorry kiddo.

@Nana757, I think the suggestion to text her is a good one. As I am blocking her numbers, I am also adding them to my contact list so I have a record of her trying to contact me.
You are 100% right, I don't need a nutcase stalker in my life. All I want to do is to be allowed to heal in peace.
I feel badly for this woman, but the bottom line is that I have no ability, or desire, to 'fix' what is wrong in her life.

@Kim22, great minds think alike. I agree with you and Nana that I shall just have to try texting her to request that she stop contacting me. I would be happy to share my recipe with you. :) I'll write it out in a private message and send it to you (not that it's some secret recipe, but just in the interest of space)

@Doodles51, it is creepy that she keeps contacting me from different numbers. This tells me that she has used both her cell and home phones to try to get in touch with me and is now on to using her husband's or daughter's perhaps? The fact that she called back shortly after the first call yesterday from a 'Restricted' number adds another layer of creepiness. I don't know how you restrict a number.
She would have to know that I'm blocking her. I wonder at her wording too. Her asking why my number doesn't accept calls from her number. As far as I know, when you block someone on an Android phone and they try to call, they are given the message that your number is no longer in service.
I dunno....it's just weird. Hopefully, if I text her to quit calling she'll respect that. I guess we'll see.
You'll have to let me know how you enjoy your scalloped potatoes!

@CricketHip, you had me laughing at your post! Yep, I sure attract an interesting crowd, don't I?
Her situation was that she had undergone her THR the week prior and had been cleared to go to a rehab center. She told me that she broke her femur in the rehab center. Now, all of a sudden, she's cooked up this surgeon theory.
I honestly don't know what the deal is with my own cracked femur except that it was very small. I had been having pain down that thigh for quite some time, but just put it down to referred pain from my hip. When the surgeon told my husband that my femur was cracked it didn't really surprise me.
I just find it hard to believe that my surgeon would be cagey about it. He has seemed to have my best interests at heart throughout all this.
Anyway, it's my opinion that this poor woman has some really intense issues, and I am truly sorry about that. I don't need that kind of stuff in my life though and don't feel it's my obligation to humor her.
I'll bet it's a challenge for you dealing with clients and trying to steer clear of the 'energy vampires'. There seem to be a LOT of them out there and they're crafty people.
Thank you for the giggle today. I hope your weather is gorgeous and that you're enjoying your day. :)

Good! I was going for the giggle! Uhm and you could share your phone number on here for all of us?? :rotfl:

The weather is fab! Just completed my walk. The thigh muscles were "squeezing quite a bit, but nothing compared to that bone on bone pain of before. I can't wait until you can fully experience this for yourself.
Dinner tonight is pork loin chops with mac and cheese with steamed veggies. We are still getting tomatoes from the garden so that will be good to have, too.

You succeeded :) For the record, I would be happy for my BoneSmart buddies to have my number. I don't get the 'Fatal Attraction' vibe from any of you.
I'm so excited to experience the full healing thing too! My thigh muscle is still quite tight. My OS showed my husband an exercise he could help me with to help with that. It's kind of painful, but it does seem to be helping.
Ooh, your dinner sounds fabulous! And fresh garden tomatoes as well! *Swoon*

Oh my God, @DeepBreath...I was cracking up at your description. I'm really sorry for you, but your account of the story was hysterical. Maybe you have "teacher/healer energy." That's what someone told me. She said that all of the people that need healing latch on to me. I hope you don't have to change your phone number. She certainly is persistent. It kind of makes you see how hard it must be to be a surgeon...(dealing with patients like her.) Unbelievable! You are a great writer, though. Maybe you could use it as material. I'm still chuckling when I think about it.

p.s. Sorry, I don't mean to sound insensitive. It's just that from the outside the things she was saying were so unbelievable...it was comical to me. Hope you have your privacy back so that you can heal and relax.

@Hip Hip Hooray!, I didn't think your post was insensitive at all. I'm glad you got a chuckle out of my story. :)
It IS funny on an absurd level.
The part I left out is that this woman sounds almost exactly like Mrs. Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory....volume level and all. She verbalized everything. She'd cough or sneeze or yawn and it would have that extra loud emphasis on it.
My second day in the hospital she got a raging case of gas and every time she'd let fly she'd yell, "Oh My GAWD, I cannot quit faaahting! I'm SO sooorrrry! DOES IT SMELL??!!"
I just laid in my bed wondering if I was paying penance for something horrible I'd done in a past life.
The teacher/healer theory is intriguing. I've always just termed myself a goofball magnet.
Anyway, I haven't heard anything for a couple of days so maybe she's decided to quit calling or is out buying more burner phones. We'll see....

Deep-- stop! I am laughing so hard.. no waaaaay! I bet the nurses and aides were avoiding your room just because of her. I am so sorry that you had to endure that. Jeez. **giggle**
Then your thoughts on if you were doing penance,, I am still laughing, I agree, it's not really funny but you tell it so well.
I totally and completely would have requested a different room.
I hope you are having a good weekend! :happydance:

@Doodles51, I honestly was tempted to do that, only I was afraid it would only engage more conversation. :bored:

@CricketHip, it honestly was funny...in hindsight. When I came home from the hospital my son and I had a great time talking about it. He's a huge Big Bang Theory fan and the thought of mom with her very own Mrs. Wolowitz experience cracked him up. :heehee: And you're right; I should have requested a different room.
I hope you have a terrific day as well. :)

@Legin, you know what, you are absolutely right. I do need to develop a Sheldon approach to people like that.
Now I just have to figure out how to accomplish that.....

I was laughing about it for the rest of the day. The way you describe her is so funny! You're a great storyteller. Hopefully she has moved on, and will no longer be contacting you.

Hello @DeepBreah, So glad to hear that the roommate situation is more comfortable now! I hated to hear that someone might make you miserable unnecessarily! Sounds like the fracture isn't going to deter you too much, either. I was told that the risk of fracture was a concern of my surgeon, but he was able to manage the extra bone "knob" I had due to a broken femur many years ago, so I was able to bypass that. Hope you rest well and enjoy moving with your "toe-touching" restrictions. Thinking of you!

I was just thinking that, since you haven't heard from her in a few days, maybe her husband got on her and told her to stop bugging you. One can only hope, right? Your recount of her letting go of her gas had me cracking up and it reminded me of all the colonoscopy patients in the recovery room, when I had mine done in early July. It sounded like a symphony!!!! :rotfl:

@Hip Hip Hooray! thank you. :) The material really writes itself in this case.

@Southernbelle, hi! Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad your surgeon was able to work around the bone knob.
I'm happy to say that my surgeon cleared me for full weight bearing last Monday so I've been able to start taking my shiny new hip out for a spin this week. The lack of pain while walking is just incredible.
I hope you're doing good and that your recovery is going smoothly. :)

@Nana757, I hope that is the case as well, friend. I truly do wish that lady well...from a safe distance.

I hope all my hippie buddies had a great weekend.
