You didn't answer my question! :sigh: Right there in the middle.

And did you read those articles? I like it when people at least confirm that they've noticed them :wink1:

Hi Ddunrider

I will echo what others have said everyone heals differently but I am sure I have read others who have had knee pain. Remember you have just had major surgery cut open and a part of you cut out, it will take time but you will get there.
I had a Hematoma which had to drain for about two weeks after my surgery before I could start healing properly this hasn't happened to a lot of people but I have read of one or two folk who had it.

The only pain I experienced post op was knee pain and the only bruising I had was a tiny, tiny bit on the knee. I think I recall I read some thing Jo wrote about how they move the leg via the knee during surgery a lot. I stopped worrying about it then and realized the knee had to heal like the hip.

Now four months on this week and no knee or hip pain, (unless I overdo it) so hang in there :)

So monday I will really take it easy.

Ddunrider

DON'T overdo the pt you are in recovery DON'T rush things there are no medals for first past the post. take things gradually
Doing to much to soon might just set you back do exercises in small doses, just let yourself heal and recover from your op.

About the muscle soreness in the thigh. I had a lot of muscle spasms in my thigh front and back that were pretty nasty for the first week and a half ... maybe even still some into the 2nd week. It was very painful and sent nerve pain going down my leg front and back. It actually felt better to get up and walk, so I knew it was something with the muscles going nuts when they were resting.

The doctor said muscle spasms are common after a hip replacement. The muscles are just objecting to being sliced and yanked around. If that's what is going on with you, it should settle down, and if it's like mine, it should be soon.

That was absolutely the worst part of the first couple of weeks for me. If I hadn't had the muscle spasms, it would have been pain just when I moved the leg further than it was able to go at that point. It bothered me a lot to move it to the side. At 6 weeks, I can move it a lot farther than my other one ... so things do improve (a lot!) and settle down. If it doesn't you may want to contact your doctor. I took Vallium for muscle spasms and that helped a LOT.

Hey Guys

Still been up since 3am...My PT home lady showed up and told me what I thought I would her say "Your doing to much"...So I will listen and chill for a while PT only 3 times a day ....not the 6 time I did yesterday And I should have never walked in the market......I will obey:sleepz:

Donnie,

We all figure it out...sooner or later and then we go with the flow so to speak and realize this recovery takes time, patience, rest, rest and more rest. We will get there. Enjoying your posts, all the best to you.

Day 13......updates later on.
@ 7.17pm
Well spent all day trying to sleep laying in bed with Ice it never happend. I went down stairs 3 times to eat and walk around the Pool and enjoy the sun..Cuz I am in So-Cal...I dusted the bedroom Pick up stuff. My daughter did my Laundery and I put it away..All this while pushing my Dam walker...I never did fall asleep I'm more like in a Fog...I think its the Norcos I get tired but dont fall asleep.I only have like enough for 1.5 days then back to the tramdol ..and my Celbrex ..The pain in my knee and thight muscles are still aching.....Tomarrow will be 2 weeks and it looks like the soreness and tightness last about 3-4 weeks I hope cuz the hip part aint that bad.I cant sleep on my inscission side yet but close..

Donnie

Donnie,

You might be in this period of odd sleep patterns for a while...just sleep whenever you can...day, night, morning, afternoon. I am just now, after 4 months, getting a regular sleep pattern back. And no guilt, unless you can think of naps as a guilty pleasure! Ha!Ha!

I had my revision on the same day as you, and I am feeling OK as well...sleeping, well this time I have found the most comforatble place for me (and the wife!) is the sofa, I can get a whole nights sleep on that, I found the bed hard on my bottom and I also got a backache.

Tonight I might try and sleep in bed, even though the wife keeps saying "well if its comfy you may as well stay there"

Hello Hippies! !
Its 2am and guess who just got woken up to Ice there leg....yep yours truey darn it hurts its also my wake up call for a norco!!!..the ice is feeling pretty good lets see if I can fall asleep again.....good night and see ua tomorrow .......Donnie out Day 14!!!!

Sleepless in California

Looks like I got a extra 3 hours!!!!....5am now god I hope this gets better..from the way it feels I guess plenty of Ice to day.I must sound like a crybaby but just cut my leg off might feel better! !

Donnie,

You don't sound like a "cry baby". Joint replacement, I now believe, is not for the faint of heart and I was before mine.

Hang in there and if you're not, consider taking pain meds round the clock for a couple of days to get the pain under control and you know the rest, ice, rest, rest and more rest...

Yea im taking noco around every 4 hours I have never stoped and a clebrex twice a day ...think i may need something stronger?...or just hang in there sleeping is the worse.....

I'm not a "medical person" but...if you are having pain like that and the meds are not giving you relief I would definitely call my OS about possibly getting something stronger and maybe see what they think is going on. Good luck. I'm sure others will chime in too.
