New to this forum. Waiting for my January date for RTKR. Have already had my pre surgery screen as OS requires this before setting the date. I am going to have a complex knee revision for my first surgery. No great amount of arthritis but I have a stress fracture in my tibia that did not heal and caused AVN so a portion of my tibia on the inner knee has "died" and is now crumbling. Any advice?

I'm sorry to hear about your problems. One of the moderators will come along soon to point you to some articles to read from the library. I'm facing a revision of my TKR from July 2015 which was not placed correctly. I hope your surgery goes well for you.

Hello @JLP . Welcome!

I'm going to ask @Josephine , our forum Nurse Director, to advise you.

No real advice. AVN is just another form of degenerative inflammatory disease so our usual articles will fit very well.

Stories of amazing knee recoveries

First is the reading - everybody gets a free copy of the recovery reading!

Here are the BoneSmart mantras ....
- rest, elevate, ice and take your pain meds by the clock
- if it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physiotherapist - to do it to you
- if your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again
- if you won't die if it's not done, don't do it
- never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can go to sleep!
- be active as much as you need to be but not more than is necessary, meaning so much that you end up being in pain, exhausted or desperate to sit down or lay down!
