Thanks, that is what I needed to hear...

Thanks, I will definitely listen to the advise.

Hi everyone as of June 16th everything was going good and then I started walking, I have to talk up some hills now my leg swell. I ice them down but it seem it help a little what I am doing wrong???

How far are you walking? sometimes that swelling will take some time to go down and go bye-bye. After my BTKR, I had "kanckles"---ankles that looks as big as knees---for quite some time.

Remember, recovery---the body returning to normal----can take upwards to a year.

I sorry, I had my surgery on November 19, 2013. Should there still be swelling??? I am walking about 1/2 mile

Good to see you, but sorry you're having trouble. Just speculating, but maybe the walking uphill is putting a new strain on things.

Some people experience more swelling than others. I'm one of those. I can still get a bit of it in my knees and my first TKR was 5 years ago. It depends on the activity, how much heat and humidity is going on, and my diet. This is just how I'm wired, I guess. But I do find that regular exercises minimizes it.

So, be sure you're not overdoing the exercise. A half mile sounds like a good start. Hills are okay, but work up to a steep incline gradually. Any swelling you get from exercise should only last a day or so.
