BossK's recovery thread

I remember having that after my first knee replacement. At the time, I didn't know what it was. It settled down after a few weeks, as everything became less swollen. It's a strange feeling, isn't it?

Oooo, I can't stand it!! It's like nails on the chalkboard! I haven't done much PT besides "life" the last 2 days and it settled down a little. It's making me crazy!

Bossk, love your octopus! Bet everyone at Bootcamp was jealous, lol.

They were impressed! I'll have to ask for a new critter tomorrow and in a different color.:)

Great idea! I'd request a swan 'cuz I'm just so *graceful* these days. I ask my PT guy to call me Gisele (Bundchen) when he observes my walking. I think he was reluctant at first, but now he's into it, hah!

That's a great idea considering I just fell over my elliptical machine! Of course there was nothing to grab, and I hit my newest knee. Yeeouch!

OMG, please forgive me for laughing! I just can't help it 'cuz it's right up my alley!

That said, I really do hope you're ok? I also hope you didn't land on a concrete basement floor?

Ouch! Hope you're okay. To be done in by a fitness machine... just not right.

Yowza! You just did one of my worst fears - tripping over a piece of something. Hope you are ok - those exercise machines are deadly! I expect the implant is just dandy but the bits around it must be sore. Take it easy.

Immediately ice and elevate and stay down as much as possible! You will probably be really sore for a few days. I was when I fell on my new knee. Just baby it really good. Treat it with TLC and you should be fine!

It just figures that the one piece of equipment I detest most got me yesterday. [emoji51]I iced and elevated, and now have a nice bruise to show for it. I'm thinking I may excuse myself from Bootcamp this morning.

You're too funny! No worries- I kind of ended up "sitting" down on one of the foot pedals, which of course then rotated and dumped my knee first onto the other one. And all the while flailing for something to grab to stop my fall. It's was pure poetry in motion.

@BossK ,many years ago, I tore my rotator cuff because of a clumsy dismount from my basement treadmill. Oh, the irony just about killed me. The absurdity made me laugh like a hyena when I landed. But.... the torn rotator cuff was not amusing, which makes very happy to hear you are basically intact. :yahoo:

Glad you did not hurt yourself any worse BossK! Definitely take a day off from boot camp - just the phrase boot camp sounds painful to me at this point in my recovery. I went flying off the back of a treadmill once when my I-pod dropped and I forgot where I was, stopped walking and bent down to pick it up. Fortunately no injuries, except for my pride.

Don't you wish you had a video of that!
Are you OK today? Skipping camp would probably be a good idea.

You are so sweet to ask! I am doing okay today. Icing right now, as a matter of fact, and put a bunch of arnica on the bruise before bed last night. I'll work on arms today only.

I am loving hearing the tales of us less than graceful workout goddesses! Take that, spandex-clad gym rats! The best part of my whole tumble was I was just trying to get the window shade up so I could WALK AROUND the elliptical so I could get to the stationary bike for some exercise!!

Back from San Diego! A wonderful visit with family, and the walking along the flat boardwalk and beach were wonderful. Walking in deep sand, not so much! After so much walking though, I find the things that tire the fastest are my hips!! I guess it's the realignment of all the leg joints?

Hmm, interesting BossK! I have one bionic hip, one natural. Both tire easily after walking about 40-45 minutes.

Re: Sand. I was just reminded (again) by my OS today to avoid sandy beaches; pffft! I'm surrounded by great ocean beaches, but alas, they are forbidden fruit right now, as is the surf. Pool only.

Well, I'm back in Colorado so it's pools and lakes/rivers for a while. The warm sand feels so good, though!

Walking in sand is really hard on a new knee. I'm glad you managed it without too much ill effect.

Yes, your whole body needs to get used to the new knee.

Another question: what about Hormone replacement therapy after a knee replacement?
