BossK's recovery thread

Agreed 1000%. Looks like I get to put the hysterectomy off for a while.
My ROM on my newest knee is at about 130, though I am still having that awful "flicking" from the outer side tendon. I'm stretching like crazy (can't believe how stiff I've become!), but progress is SLOW. I have to keep telling myself that I'm not even 5 months out yet, and to quit expecting my right to behave like my left, which is now almost 10 months old. Patience is indeed a virtue.

Benign is good! What wonderful news. And it's hard not to compare knees, especially when you must deal with them both every single day. The difference between them just smacks you between the eyes. Soon enough, they will be equal partners again.

Hallelujah, what wonderful news about being benign. God is good!

No way! I am totally going to get on that site!:)

BossK ~ it is a very supportive and helpful site (hystersisters) just as Pheebs described, for both common and uncommon feminine issues as well as other forums for gyn cancers. so happy for you the polyp is benign. will you have to have it removed?

It was removed already, but I was told the chances of me growing more are pretty high. This is my second one. So if I keep farming the little boogers, then the uterus must go.

Oh! I took my first real bike ride in 10 months today. My neighborhood is all hills, so I'm going to pay for this tomorrow, that's a given. Tylenol, take me away! (Can't take a pain med and be coherent by tomorrow morning when students arrive.[emoji12])

How are you after your wonderful bike ride? I love riding!

I did it!! It was hard, but now I'm am trying to get on the bike at least 3 days a week before the weather turns. The leaves are already changing here in Colorado.

I'm almost done with my first quarter of school! Being on my feet all day has led to some nights of icing, and getting in bed early just to get off my legs. I have zero time to do PT, so I'm doing life and stretching and calling it a done deal. I'm exhausted as a teacher, that's for sure!

@BossK.....the reality is once you start back with your normal routine and work, you no longer need to exercise and do therapy. Your activities of daily living and work ARE your therapy! So don't feel at all guilty about not continuing those exercises. They are no longer needed. Just give yourself a year or more to fully get all of your energy, strength and movement back. It really does take that long, but it comes on its own quite naturally.

It's so hard to believe it takes a year, but truly, my left knee is almost a year old, and it's still letting me know now and then that I have overdone it. My right knee is almost 6 months old. Incredible how time flies, and I count myself fortunate my recovery has been good. I'm thinking I may take up yoga as my flexibility has gone out the window. Plus I'm almost 50, and won't be putting out a calendar any time soon, so I'm not longer feeling the need to be drenched in sweat at the end of a workout. (Wink)

Yoga will be an excellent program for you. You have a balanced approach to exercise and "working out" that I admire. Sometimes it's difficult to make life changes and recognize that things do change as we age. Although I don't have time for yoga at this point in my life, I have a number of friends who do it regularly. It can be quite a workout even though it is easier on your body than pounding in the gym. So bravo to you!!!

Happy knee-versary to my left knee! It was one year ago today! I am so happy the recovery is behind me. It still gets achy when I've been on it too long, or when weather is moving in, but I went for a three mile walk today like I do almost every weekend. Haven't started yoga, but truly the wise on here will tell you that daily life is PT enough.
Happy continued healing, everyone!
