THR April

Thank you for being there everyone and thank you for this site , my gosh I'm so happy I found you guys .. Lots of tears today , but I'm keeping my chin up and I want SO VERY MUCH to get back to my life. You are inspiring! xx

So I,ve not read every post yet, but I assume you're walking without aid nowadays? How are you feeling?
Living life to the fullest now - with lower spine problems that continue. But my philosophy was encouraged by my spinal surgeon - just keep moving. Haven't used any walking aids for years and yes I do get stiff now and then. But compared to that horrid bone on bone pain pre-op, this is no problem.

You WILL get back to your life soon. Suffering with pain a long time can do a number on us in so many ways. We fear the unknown and pain. I’ll repeat this that I’ve posted elsewhere: my PCP has a note his mother had sent to him during medical school, framed and sitting in one of his exam rooms. It says: “Courage is fear that has said its prayers.” Soon the unknown will be known and the pain will be temporary, for healing pain. Shortly before my surgery, I wrote a “thank you” in my journal for all my hip had allowed me to do. It helped me get myself grounded again. It’s been said that love is the language of the Universe and gratitude is its fuel. I experienced an amazing calm (no, not the drugs, lol) as I was getting onto the pre-op gurney in my beautiful hospital gown. It was me finally letting go and having the faith in the process that Spirit had led me to. Besides, there was no more for ME to do. It was then all up to my team both seen and unseen. May you also find that calm and courage. ❤️

Ohhh Hip4life you filled my heart with love just now, thank you.
"Courage is fear that has said its payers " .... this hit home big time .
I can't , he can, let him ..
=^..^=

It is pretty scary @Sunny64, but getting your life and mobility back are SO worth it. I hdn't realized how small my world had become until I had my replacements.

Following is a two year old post of mine that I’m hopeful will serve as an inspiration because I believe each of us has one of these moments post op that we store in our memory. You’ll have yours also. I do believe that!

“I was a month post op. I had just ditched my cane. Early one sunny July morning under sunshine and a clear blue sky, everything was green/blooming and birds were chirping as I walked into Whole Foods by myself to grocery shop. I wasn't limping into the grocery store for the first time in over a year. I was no longer in pain! I was thanking God as I walked through the parking lot knowing I could shop leisurely without heavily leaning on the cart, grabbing only what I needed to hurry back to the respite of my vehicle again, often shedding silent tears. Back then I was in pain, exhausted, felt older than my days. The feeling on that July day was a natural high and looking back on it is bittersweet only because I've grown comfortable with my new hip, which is great, but the sweetness, thankfulness and gratitude I felt in that moment in time is such a wonderful memory, one I never want to forget.

I'm so thankful for the second chance we get from this wonderful surgery. We're lucky we didn't live in a time when our only alternative would have been to live out our days in pain, many of us viewing the world from a wheel chair. We're blessed!”
This is me! I moved beyond silent tears in my car though to sobs. Thank you for sharing this again, I would have missed it. What a blessing as I am a bit afraid to have my replacement this Friday, 4/16 and this is beautiful.

It’s you’re big day tomorrow, Sunny. We’ll be thinking of you and looking forward to following your healing journey on the bright side. Since surgery is tomorrow, you can start your recovery thread in the Hip Recovery Area today of you like. Once you do we will leave our Recovery Guidelines for you.

Wishing you only the best and looking forward to supporting you as you heal.
Hugs :)
