@gullimac Hope you had a great day! Although I love House of Cards and Orange is the new Black (Netflix), the plot lines might be a wee bit involved for week 1. Maybe week 2. But for the future, Kevin Spacey is such a BAD politician, and I loved it.....think the Sopranos for dirty, power hungry politicians.

You might find an episodic show that you already like. I am a news girl, so there was quite a bit of that, and 60 minutes 'on demand'. The magazine style was helpful. I felt like I could fall asleep without missing out on a big plot line, and each episode was self contained so I didn't have to start over. I could watch for a while and have a nap attack. I bet Law & Order or NCIS might fit that bill because each episode is a complete story. if you are a crime guy.

I caught up on Dowton Abbey, but I am a sucker for historical period series, and that isn't everyone's favorite. (the Tudors and the Borgias- YES!!!......not really a Game of Thrones gal)

I read a ton of trashy detective novels - nothing too complicated and just enough to keep my mind occupied. I also watched The West Wing which I have seen before so if I nodded off or zoned out I could still keep up.
I've got Orange is the New Black saved for hip#2 in the next few weeks!

@Toddlermom i settled in on watching That 70's show this week. Light, funny, 30 minutes. No problem if I fall asleep for a while. My wife is a Huge Law & Order ( SVU & Original) watcher, so I kind of hit my fill of those a long time ago.

Interestingly, NCIS became an obsession of mine over the last 1.5 years. I had never really watched it, but Mom and Dad loved it. The last time I visited with mom before her passing, she was pretty sick, my dad and I just hung out and watched a few episodes. I think that somewhere in the time after mom passed away I started to associate that show with her. I realized that I had started binge watching that show as a subconscious attempt to stay connected with her. Later I developed a love for that show on its own merits. In the last few months, I realized how much that show deals with loss and dealing with that loss. Can't help but wonder if someone put that show in my path at this particular time for a reason.

As for reading @Zelda I am a big Michael Connelly reader. I have his most recent on my IPad right now. I think I am finally getting clear headed enough that I could dive into that soon.

Puttered back and forth to the kitchen without the Walker a few times this morning. Don't think I am truly ready for that on a regular basis. I think this afternoon I will concentrate less on distance and more on mechanics. I have a lot of retraining to do to get rid of that limp. I don't feel like I limp much at all when I use the Walker. A little more of a limp with the cane, but enough support if I need it...and if I REALLY concentrate on it I can minimize the limp with the cane.

Mother-in-law is picking up the girls this afternoon from school to do some Mothers Day shopping since I am still housebound. Hoping we can convince my sister-in-law and her family to swing by this weekend. Feeling a little quaranteened from the world here at 10 days post-op.

At only days out of major surgery this is very good. Can you transition to one crutch? It will give you a bit more stability but help you work on getting your gait just right. A bit of very slow and focused heel, toe walking will help.

Dude!!! Way to go man!!! I've been following your journey, and I'm so happy for you! You'll be chasing the kids around before you know it. Keep up the good work fella. I know you're already seeing what its all about.

Way to go on letting that walker go for a few steps... thats the stuff. I found the cane, and all the things a cane can be used for... That might be something to talk to your surgeon or PT about if you have questions... It soundsl like though you'll do fine with whatever you have at hand. I know once I found that cane I was off to the races.. and its a great tool for pulling/pushing/moving things around too. Mine is still in its little corner where I left it months ago.. just as reminder... I probably won't need it for many years... but it just reminds to get out there and walk every day.

I look forward to your progress and stories of triumph... as each day we're like a baby learning all over again... Good job, and keep up the great work!

I second the Orange is the New Black recommendation, and if you like that you can follow up with Wentworth. I watched 11 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, and am currently rewatching Sons of Anarchy.

Also agree with the trying out one crutch idea. I have found that helpful over the past couple of days.

Glad to hear your recovery is boring though, sometimes in life boring is good :)

I jinxed myself I think. After such smooth sailing , had another bad bought with constipation today. Spent about an hour efforting to get rid of some solid waste. I think I pushed too hard (have I mentioned how stubborn I can be) and developed some pronounced pain in the lower third of my waste elimination system. Could barely walk or function the remainder of the day. So pretty well wasted my day--no progress on the walking/exercise front.

Going to have to up my efforts in against constipation.

MiraLax? I'm thinking that may be my future new favorite cocktail! I have to laugh whenever I think about those Miralax commercials with the purple poo sliding on through hahahaha. New mantra: repeat! Purple poo sliding on through! You've been having such a speedy and productive recovery... Don't let this bump in the road disourage you!

In the midst of my first venture outside of the house today. We are at my MIL's house for Mothers Day. Managed the car ride ok. We had to shift from our "normal" dinner table alignment to give me an end seat with a chair with arms.

Overall it is great to be out and about. We will see how exhausted I am when we get home.

On another note, all the **** that was plugging up my pipes has apparently plugged up our toilet too. So had to put a call in to have a plumber come check it out.

Sorry, but I am laughing at all of your plumbing difficulties! I had no problems while on opioids as long as I used Miralax and two stool softeners per day. Hopefully the experience with the plumber will only hurt in the wallet department. Glad you got out for a change of scenery. I remember well my first trip out at 2 weeks to our favorite hot dog place, which has the best fries in the world, no joke. I had a big smile on my face! Was very therapeutic.

@YoungHippy the plumber and I got into a conversation about my THR. He had a buddy who just went through the surgery.

I did tell the plumber that it made me feel better that to know that the pipes couldn't handle the same material I had struggled with. He shared that my particular toilet had a reputation for being hard to plug up. We shared a good laugh, potty humor is universal.

Walk to the bus stop was easier this morning. Not too sore from the excursion to the MIL's house yesterday.

No, mine was a posterior-lateral approach. Got some restrictions to work within. Managed them well mostly. Had a little scare yesterday getting up out of chair, turned in toes and came close to the 90 degree rule. Hip caught for a second but I adjusted myself out of it.

To top it off, was trying to work on clearing the drains on a dishwasher. The plumber I called for our toilet did not do dishwashers. So I tried to manage a first run attempt at DIY with the help of my 2 young assistants. We did not succeed. Needless to say I am a might bit sore from laying on my stool on my belly to reach into the dishwasher (w/o breaking restrictions). Feeling a little worthless at not being able handle some of this stuff after being at home all day. Want to contribute to the family during my hiatus from work.

Think I am having some of those Post-op Blues. Depressed at not being able to just hop back up to do all that needs to be done. I have to remind myself it has only been 2 weeks since the operation.
