@gullimac Hope you are getting in a nap about now. I had a sleepless night last night as well. It was my first night without pain pills other than tylenol. So I was up walking the floors until 5 this morning. Got a nap for a couple hours but need to try and stay up so I can sleep tonight and be rested for PT in the morning. Although I don't know at this point if I am going or not. I'm worried that if I hear the word heel slide one more time I may just snap. :bignono:

Wow @gullimac, we were on the same page last night! I had the worst night because I forgot to take my pain meds and so I had to try and catch up. I think I slept about 15 minutes every two hours all night long. I FINALLY caught up with the pain this morning around 5:30 a.m. (I sure won't do that again)! Feeling very good now (zero pain at rest and maybe a 3 while ambulating). Today is the first day I've been alone and am really enjoying the solitude. Trying to get any sleep whatsoever while in the hospital is rather futile. I'm so happy to be home and resting in my "lady lair". I'm really going to miss my hospital bed and the new 50" TV we purchased! The one in my master bedroom is only a 37" and it looks so tiny now. You sound so good and I'm happy for you. I sit outside on our deck and watch and listen to all the lovely birds whom have taken up residence in our numerous trees. Very therapeutic! Seeee, I told you we could do this twinsy! Hugs! :friends:

Made the trip back down the 13 stairs today. Then walked up the drive and past the neighbors mailbox. Longest walk yet. Then cooked lunch. After that cashed for about 2.5 hours. Good to get out on the "long" walk, but I was really tired after. Still nothing from at home PT. going to have to call my doc tomorrow, to find out what the the deal is.

Oldest kid is puking tonight. Pain in the butt dog apparently bit the neighbor dog on the leg this weekend. Wife is at her wits end and of course I am of no help right now.

I got to help with Homework tonight (a rare occurance). I think that was helpful. I wish I could do that more often.

Took my meds tonight, hoping for a better night. Tomorrow is another day.

Oh the joys of parenthood at times (especially when they're barfing)! I think it's really nice that you enjoyed helping your little girl with her homework! Those are the little things that I fondly remember my dad doing with me on occaision. I sure hope we get a better nights sleep tonight! :alarm:

Got in two walks today. Made two houses down both times. Had my "sick" kid take me the 1st time, they have to be puke free for 24 hours before they are allowed back at school. Then when #2 came home she got to take dad for a walk too. I tried to convince them to put me on leash and force me to wait until I peed in the yard before I was allowed to go back inside :dogwalk:. Unfortunately my children are pretty familiar with my sense of humor so no excitement for the neighbors.

Home health nurse will make a first visit tomorrow, then PT comes Thursday. Ready to break the monotony.

Wow! You continue to impress me. You're only one week out....and look what you're doing!!! Love your sense of humor regarding "walking the dog" - am sure your kids get a kick out of you.

@gullimac You are certainly one of my inspirations along with @Cynthia777 @TriciaGP @Squirrellymom @Miss Muffet and so many others! Any trepidation that I might've had before I found y'all is totally erased! Now I'm concentrating on my scheduled date with "Herman" (my new hip) for this coming Monday to be A Go. Just have to kick this infection's butt and get my Hubby home. Need yall's prayers! Keep up your great progress (without wearing yourself out) and good job not freakin out the neighbors :snork::snork:

So, Home-health nurse came today. No surprises there. She was impressed with the amount of walking I was able to do already. I told her that this side of the hip replacement was far easier than what I had been through for the last 1 year plus. We will see what PT thinks tomorrow.

Took the girls half-way to the bus stop this AM. Mr. Bob, the bus driver, was happy to see me. Wife had decided to work from home until I felt like I could handle that chore. So I guess that hurdle is cleared now.

Reading through your recovery thread reminded me of how sleepy I was post-op. For at least three weeks, I was a napping fiend. You're right about the boredom, too. For me, boredom was compounded by the sleepiness. I wasn't alert enough to DO anything. I tried to knit but would get blurred sleepy vision after just a few minutes and then wasn't sleepy enough to fall asleep. It's a conundrum.

I agree with @Toddlermom's recommendation - time to find something to binge watch. :) In early days, I fell asleep on Anthony Bourdain quite a lot. After the first week, I tried to keep myself entertained by binging on Damages and kept myself awake looking for scenes shot in the building where I live. LOL!
