Thanks everyone for your kind words, they always help.

@zauberflöte the pain in my calf is not as bad so I think it was muscular and the lump seems to be getting smaller. Thank you for your reply because it helped put my mind at rest.
@Hoppy Nanny , @Kim22 , @Peaches and @fulafoto thank you for replies. I feel better today. I'm up and about and have had breakfast and done the dishes. I will just plod along, accept things the way they are and know that in the end things will work out. This journey is just going to take longer. Thank goodness I don't have to return to work until September.

@Allycat, I think you've got it figured out just right:

I will just plod along, accept things the way they are and know that in the end things will work out. This journey is just going to take longer.

Hang in there and let us know how you are doing, okay?

Just popped by to say hello Ally - thinking of you xx

Hi @Allycat...You sound like you are in a good frame of mind. Sorry about that nasty infection. Take care of yourself.
Annie

@Allycat "plodding along" is indeed it :) Somebody started a "recovery goals" thread, and last night I wrote that I'd been "slogging along". I remember people telling me very early in the game what a great recovery I was having. Now I'm paying for it!:rotfl: 2much activity 2soon= soft tissue issues, gesundheit!

How's it going?

And @ any Kiwis-- first new crop of NZ apples came in the store yesterday-- YUMMMMMY!

Hi Allycat (I love your Chat Noir avatar!). I've just read your thread start to finish and am so glad you are doing well now, and the infection nipped in the bud! As I read other's experiences that is something I absolutely dread, and not sure I'd do well handling it, emotionally anyway. But yours was caught in time and you are back on the road to recovery! May you have smooth sailing from here on out!!

Hi all,
My 6 week check up with OS went ok. He was happy with the xray and happy with my movement. Re the infection, he agrees that I should have gone to hospital earlier. (The infection was noticed on Thursday, when the initial dressing came off, and I didn't get to hospital until the next Tuesday.) But we all know better with hindsight, don't we. He wants to see me again in another 6 weeks just before I'm due to return to work to make sure I'm good and ready. We decided I am about 2 weeks behind in my progress because of the infection, but still moving along well. Of course, I need to be on the lookout in case the infection rears its ugly head again.

I am walking around a little better now. In the house I am using nothing, outside I'm using the walking stick. I have dropped the Targins and now just take Tramadol morning and night and that seems to be doing the trick. I haven't attempted driving yet. The OS said he's fine with me driving, just to take care the first couple of times. I might give it a go this weekend. That will be almost 7 weeks post-op.

A friend called around last Tuesday and we had a wonderful girly day. She cut and coloured my hair, an eyelash tint, gave me a foot soak and pedicure (and cut those pesky toenails that I couldn't reach) and a manicure. We had a nice lunch and even a glass of champagne! Much needed laughs and relaxation.

This Saturday, I'm going out for dinner. This is the first time I am venturing out at night, and first time in a restaurant, with their low chairs and low toilets. Haha.

Thanks to all who stop by and read my thread, hope you are all well.

So glad that things are moving in the right direction for you @Allycat....ooh your pamper day sounds just what the doctor ordered. I took a cushion everywhere with me when I ventured out for low seats......and for low toilets I got very adept at straddling the seat so I didn't struggle when standing( TMI. ?). The first time of driving felt weird but think once you get your head around it...it's great! Hope you continue well on your recovery...Chrissie x

Hi Ally!

I've just caught up on your thread after being away. So sorry to hear about your infection, but glad to hear you are back on the road to recovery, and things are going well.

@zauberflöte - I'm glad you like our apples!
