Woowoo!! I'm so pleased that my hospital is listed as one of the better ones. Of course, if they were being rated on the quality of food, mine would be at the bottom. :)

@Josephine Glad it worked.

Happy Holidays, and thank you for all your help and advice.

@sharonslp Yes, me too! Not nice to look at that chart and see "Worse."

I really appreciate all the support over the last eight months. Happy Holidays!

Wow, @LeeApril26 ... what a wonderful thing you did posting that chart. Very interesting! Thanks very much.
I hope during our recent heat wave in the city you swapped out your black socks with your sandals for some seasonal red or green! Take care.

Hope you and yours have had a wonderful Christmas holiday with lots of family fellowship and sharing of gifts and lots of good food to eat.

I’ll be looking for you at the BoneSmart annual New Year’s Party. It’s been a very eventful year for most of us---and will be a very eventful year coming up for others of us looking forward to surgery in the new year.

Remember to bring food and drink to share---and pictures are always appreciated and loads of fun to share.

SEE YOU AT THE PARTY!!!!!

Did you swap out the red & green socks for some blinged-out silver or gold, @LeeApril26 ??
Actually tonight was too frigid for sandals! Happy New Year !!

My daughter bought me some seriously colorful socks for Christmas!

I love colorful socks, the brighter the better.. @LeeApril26 - do you have a photo? :)

@Poppet
They are already in the laundry, but here are some of the links. Sadly, the socks she bought are sold out. I was going to buy more. Very comfy.

Look for Smart Wool socks - they make knee highs too. The BEST socks - expensive but they last and are comfortable, resist smelling, last for years!! Website is smartwool.com also on Amazon and in some show stores - great colors too

I LOVE those socks on that site, @charmed-life! Thanks. Maybe I'll spend a gift card I got and spring for a pair of knee socks.

I was just thinking someone should design some fun, colorful TED stockings. It wouldn't make them less horrible to wear (I am assuming they are horrible; I was lucky to escape them), but at least once you got them on, they'd be fun to look at.

Today is my nine month anniversary. The new hip is doing very well. I have arthritis in my knees, thumb joints and other hip but at the moment the pain is manageable without NSAIDS most days. I've been quite active lately, and hope to continue to be.

Hope all my BS friends are doing well. I so appreciate the support I received from BS and posters. Thanks everyone.

Congrats on your 9-month anniversary, @LeeApril26 and your new hip doing so well! We are about the same time frame. I wrote an update, but in my odd pre-op thread (feels odd to start a pre-op thread right now) rather than my recovery thread, so I won't regurgitate it here. Can't believe it's been 9 months. Remember the endless, rollicking discussions among our "group" of April hippies about the stinky toilet riser, sawing madly with the emory board on a stick our Howard Hughes-ian toenails, black socks with sandals, and the cement leg syndrome? Fun times. I could not have made it without your and their support here on Bonesmart. Very sorry about the arthritis in the other areas you mention, and hope they remain under control. It's great you are able to be more and more active. Take care and please keep us all posted.

Happy 1st Birthday to my new hip, and to all of my April THR friends. Being bionic has turned out to be a good thing, despite my terror and horror a year ago. Hip number two is holding on, though there are twinges. I'm hoping to avoid surgery for a while. I am walking, swimming, doing water aerobics and working in my garden. I am not Trekking over mountains, but I didn't do that before surgery either. Have done a lot of traveling in the last six months, and have a trip to California and Oregon planned for May, to visit family. In June we are going to Sicily for two weeks. It is lovely to be able to travel again. And, I made an interesting discovery: my ceramic on ceramic hip does not ring any bells in the metal detector at the airport, or at least not so far.

My thanks to Bonesmart administrators and fellow posters for getting me through the first year.

@LeeApril26 Congratulations on your one year. Mine is May 13. I have not been on this forum in a long time. In the early months the help I received was amazing. I, too, get some twinges in my "not bionic" hip but am nowhere near surgery time for that one. Won't hesitate, though, but I hope an 8 week brace won't be needed next time. I am back to walking the dog, remodeling and gardening. It certainly was a life changer. Again, congratulations.

Congratulations! I'm glad you're having such a great time with all your travels.

My hip doesn't set off metal detectors either. I still allow extra time for screening anyway, just in case.

Congratulations @LeeApril26 , I'm just over my 1 year too, and going well. Loving being pain free in my hip, doing more travelling too. I'm off to Australia in July to explore the Red Centre. I have ceramic on ceramic too, but with a metal cup liner. I sometimes set off the alarms and sometimes don't. It's more likely to be jewellery or a belt buckle for me!

Enjoy your travels! Sicily sounds fantastic.

Wow - a year already! So glad you are enjoying your travels! Thanks for checking in!
