TKR A Fond Farewell

It seems that I am lucky. Hair down the front of the leg which I have shaved a couple of times but nothing around the knee and wound itself. At last, I have something to celebrate :loll:

Well the sensitivity wasn’t nearly so bad in bed last night but sad to say it didn’t help me to sleep any better. Think my brain is now conditioned to wake at 1am, 2.30am, 4am and 7am and god knows how many calories I’m burning tossing and turning , legs out the bed in the bed and up and down the bed—who needs PT and exercise, certainly not me:dubious:

I’m jealous @Bionic

@Lilli215 I am now going to embrace my sleepless nights because I certainly have calories to burn due to excess consumption!

Well the new knee has been well tested this morning. Although I’ve been dotting about doing some light housework and shopping hubby has still been doing the heavy stuff. He developed a real stinker of a cold day before yesterday and today he is flat out! So I’ve been doing my nurse bit, then I had to take the dog out, then did a washing and hung it out on line (USA friends, we still do this in Scotland lol) then made a pot of soup and washed the kitchen floor. Now sitting with the knee up but quite pleased that it hasn’t swollen.

@Lilli215
You have had a busy day but bet it feels good to be doing 'normal' things. Well done.

We hang the washing out here too when the weather permits but husband has to do it as I can't manage the steps into the garden plus the washing basket.

I hope your husband gets over his cold quickly

You are doing well Lilli, hope the sleep issue resolves soon. I remember those nights seeing the same numbers on the clock each night!

@Lilli215 you did have a busy day. What dog do you have. I have 2 and I think I’m a long way off taking them myself which is hard. I was always the chief dog walker! I love having my washing on the line. It is a slow process at the moment but I always have a sense of satisfaction watching it blow!!

Oops posted too soon!!! Was going to say- dont get me wrong it was only a flat walk along the village green in orderfor her to do her duties. I’m a way off heading up forest tracks or down the beach yet. How sad is this—got the vacum cleaner out this morning and hoovered all the downstairs of the house and was so chuffed coz the knee held out and didn’t swell. :heehee:

@Lilli215 isn’t it funny how the monotonous chores we usually dislike doing feel like a triumph when we can do them again. I can use my cordless hoover at the moment thank goodness as we have a rug that needs hoovering twice a day due to furry friends.
I do like schnauzer’s, they are so sweet. I have a clingy cocker spaniel and a grumpy old parsons terrier!

@catkin69 I know, who would’ve thought we would embrace housework as something positive. Mind you I’m glad to have claimed my kitchen back, hubby did well but OMG it ended up (especially the cupboards and fridge) like a car crash :groan::egypdance:

So in desparation I went to the local pharmacy (drug store) this morning as my sleep pattern is getting worse instead of better. I firmly believe it’s my subconcious rooling the roost and fighting the sleep. The pharmacist recommended a product called ‘Nytol’ which is Diphenhydramine and causes drowsiness. He said as I am on co-codamol for pain then I was to be careful because combining the two will make me ultra drowsy- hello says I bring it on and bought the strongest strength available. If I dont get a half decent sleep tonight I think I’ll go mad:tantrum2:

I hope it worked. Nytol does nothing for me, but give me a piriton and 2 paracetemol and
I'm out. Actifed also makes me drowsy, but a bit cranky with it. I don't need crankiness at present!

It worked a treat @Lindylee slept from 11pm to 7am with two toilet stops, longest I’ve slept since before op. Feel a bit groggy this morning but I’ll take that. I’ll use them over the weekend then try going without them, don’t want to be using them long term

@Lilli215 That's great news, makes such a difference when you get a decent sleep. I did the piriton for 3 nights. That seemed to get me back into a pattern and now just take it if I have a bad night the night before (if that makes sense).
