TKR A Fond Farewell

It sounds as if it's a skin infection. I hope so, and I hope that the antibiotic soon cures it. Well done you, for getting help before the infection got any worse. :friends:

Thank goodness you made that appointment. I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly for you. :console2:

@Celle, thanks, yes pretty sure it is on the skin and as he said obviously want to get on top of it straight away before it could develop into a cellulitis which could affect the implant. So glad I trusted my instinct and got the appointment:yay:

@Lindylee, thanks and yes thank god I trusted my instinct. I hummed and hawed this morning and half convinced myself I was imagining it but when I was going for my shower the sun had come out and was shining in the bathroom window and when I seen it in bright natural light I knew it was time to see a doctor

Big step forward today— am driving again. Bit of discomfort getting in left knee first (which is the newbie) but managing the clutch fine. Am delighted to get a bit of independance back and the hubby is delighted that he doesn’t have to be a taxi driver any longer:dancy:

Now you can drive again, you've got your independence back. :yes!:

Sure will @Lindylee, I regard it as one of the big boxes ticked in my recovery. Long way to go yet but feel like I’m getting somewhere now:happydance:

Managed to tick another box today, got signed off from physiotherapy. PT was delighted with my progress, walked into hospital without my crutch (and those are long corridors) and my flexion was 101 and extension 0. She said she’s happy with a flexion of 100 and over, and as we all know here, she said that will improve with time. She also measured my other knee which was done two years ago and it measured 125 flexion and 0 extension so that’s my ultimate goal to have two matching knees. Now if I could only get a decent sleep at night everything in the garden would be rosy:flwrysmile::flwrysmile::flwrysmile:

Good news about being signed off from PT. :yes!:

I'm sure that. given time, you'll have a set of knees that function as well as each other.

Wonderful job clicking off those boxes. That sure is good progress.

@Lilli215 Congrats on ticking off a couple important milestones that provide not only physical but mental boost to your recovery!.... :yes!:

Had my six week check up this morning with my surgeon and she’s delighted with my recovery so she’s signed me off....yay!! Also been on the mainland for last couple of days ( I live on the Isle of Arran, 17 miles off the west coast of Scotland) and have done a shed load of driving , chuffed with how the knee coped, feels a bit tight but hasn’t swollen. All in all after the hard times of the first two weeks it’s good to know I’m on my way. For all of you out there struggling with the beginning of your journey, hang on in there it truly does get better xx

:wowspring:That's great news Lilli. Doesn't it make you feel good on days like this? I hope you're having the lovely weather up there that we have here in the south.

@Lindylee- well it’s dry but that’s about it:loll: a good bit cooler than down south but still spring like. Roll on the summer, by then my matching knees will be well settled in and used to each other:fingersx:

You are coming along very well for 6 weeks!

I would have jumped for joy if my surgeon had released me at 6 weeks. He had me in for more check ups than most members on here, and I was always stressed about them.

So exactly eight weeks in and to celebrate I shaved my legs today!!!!!! I’ve been going bonkers trying to cope with scar sensitivity when anything brushes against it, especially in bed at night. Tried the clingfilm but hated the feel of it then it dawned on me that the hair that had grown on my knees since the op probably wasn’t helping so off it came. It was one weird sensation shaving the numb area but I just went mega gentle and now have a baldy knee. My trousers don’t seem to be bothering the scar which is good and the acid test will be tonight when I go to bed. Keeping fingers crossed for a decent night’s sleep for a change:fingersx:

I remember that lovely feeling after shaving mine for the first time post-op! Hope you have a good night tonight.

I shaved mine today. They always want to look at your knee at therapy, but I was extremely careful. I sure would hate to nick it. I hope you’re able to sleep tonight, we always feel so much better after a good nights sleep.

@Lilli215 this made me chuckle. I have a very hairy wound but I’m so scared to shave it. I have gone all around so it looks quite crazy. I feel the same with the sensitivity at night. I have been living in ‘joggers’ so there is no pressure. I wish it was summer here and I could be in shorts!!
