@jbucks Why does anyone fish for flies?
You guys crack me up!
We have a Lake-place and we don't fish either. Maybe my husband could now but he certainly couldn't 30 years ago not enough going on for him. So we tube and JetSki and pretty much has to be hot to want to go

We had a problem with the refrigerator freezer we have in the garage. Freezer was working but refrigerator part was not. Had to remover the freezer door and the baskets, remove the back panel and use a hair dryer to get rid of all of the frost that had built up on the coils preventing the cold air from getting from the freezer compartment up to the refrigerator part. Since the freezer is a drawer on the bottom I was sitting on the floor while doing all of this and twisting myself into awkward positions and must have done something because when I went to bed and worked on my extension I had some pretty sharp pain just above and below the knee. Thankfully, this morning that seems to have gone away!

@msmechanic58 Yes. Getting all of that frost off the coils and from the vents now allows the cold air to circulate from the freezer to the refrigerator. I think that is how every refrigerator works. There are not two supplies of cold air, just one that always starts in the freezer compartment. Probably saved a couple hundred dollars by doing it myself instead of having a service call. The short-lived pain in my knee was probably worth it.

Definitely worth it! I am so thankful that my hubby is talented like you and can fix things. He and my son are waiting on the concrete truck right now to pour the foundation and sidewalk for our storm shelter.

Got to love a handy man! My hubby handily pays someone. I had my BTKR the same day you had your TKR. I have loved following your journey.

@Snurb317 Thank you! Usually, paying someone is the extent of my handiness as well!

No way I wanted to get both done at the same time and I fortunately picked an OS who is opposed to doing so as well. I envy the single recovery but could not imagine having to deal with two knees. The pain and discomfort from one was as much as I would care to handle.

Hi @Phil75070, good for you for fixing your fridge. We have had so many things break down this year. Our small beer fridge out by the pool, our ATV, our ride on mower, my son's car, our whipper snipper and one of the TVs. My husband is handy with building stuff but is not mechanically inclined at all so we have to get the pros take care of it. My son's car was not worth a fix and we ended up getting him a beater that he is happy with.

The ATV can wait. In the summer it is for recreation purposes. In the winter we put a plough on it to clean the driveway so it will need to be fixed for then. The whipper snipper should not be bad to repair. We will likely just replace the small beer fridge and the TV bit not in a rush for wither of those. The ride on mower is the biggest concern. We have two acres with a lot of lawn. Luckily my brother lives next door so we borrowed his but my middle boy likes ours better and he is the one that mows the lawn. I sure hope nothing else breaks!

Your recovery is really going well. Hope the weather is working in your favour so you can enjoy your golfing.

Have a great night.

@71Beetle Sounds like you could use some hired help!

Fixing the refrigerator was no big deal. Remove eight screws and hold a hair dryer for 30 minutes or so. It was just awkward with the freezer being a pull out drawer on the bottom and the coils at the back inside of the unit. It was the knowledge that this would fix it that ranks right up there! :)

I was going to make plans to do something today, then I remembered I no longer make plans as the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom.

@Snurb317 I love that statement. my husband is handy. but projects never seem finished. what part of the buckeye state are you in.

@jbucks - I have a house 3/4 finished, a shop 1/2 finished, a chicken coop 3/4 finished, a fence 1/2 finished, and a new storm shelter that is only a floor and sidewalk.

I had to fix the darn refrigerator myself. The chauffeur, the butler and our on-staff handyman all had the day off; the upstairs and downstairs maids are useless at this sort of thing and the pool boy was busy feeding grapes to my wife while she lounged by the pool!

@jbucks Hey, I am the boss in my family! I can do anything I want. I just have to check with her to make sure it is something I really want to do. "Honey, the guys are stopping for a couple of beers. Is that something I want to do?" Or, "Honey, do I want to play golf today?"

hi @jbucks - a whipper snipper maybe called a weed whacker in the US. Does that help. It trims the weeds around trees and gardens that the lawnmower cannot get to.

Nothing fixed yet but lots of talk around it :)
