THR 2nd Hip Recovery

Had my visit with OS today and he said the pain I'm having is not from hip and is from back. Everything concerning my hips is great and no need to return to him for those for 5 years !!! Of course knees are another story so I'll still be seeing him, but not for my hips. :sigh:

I see the same Neuro Surgeon I saw in March for my back on Tuesday so we will see what he says about this awful back pain and numbness down the leg.

@alexthecat:

The diagram you had sent me about the muscles was very beneficial, maybe you want to post it here in case others want to see. You have been so helpful with these issues to me and I know to a lot of others and you deserve many of thanks for that.

:cat-kittyandsmiley:

THANKS !! I really think that is a great diagram. It's very interesting to also look at the area where I have disc issues in relation where some of those muscles are. Just looking at where the Psoas muscle is in relation to this all. I've never known any of these muscle names prior to having this surgery and now I feel like I've learned so much about all these different muscles.

Wow, julie! I haven't been online for awhile and am just getting caught up. Sorry you are having such a rough time. At least you have ruled out the hips. Great advice from janet to set up an appt with a neuro. Hope monday gives you some answers or at least points you in a direction. Hang in there!

Hang in there Julie. These back issues are a real problem post op. I suffered for months and months after my THR. Also have a lift in my shoe and it took forever for my back to settle down and adjust to balanced walking.

Please let us know how your appointment goes on Monday!

Julie, when you look at a diagram like that, it starts to make sense that so many hippies seem to have back issues as well, doesn't it?

Just wanted to wish you luck with your neuro appt tomorrow. Hope you get some answers :friends:

Donna

Thanks Donna, go this a.m. at 9:45. This pain is taking over me. I don't have relief in any way. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting, standing, sleeping, it's still there. I just want some relief from it and find out what the heck is going on.

Thanks !!!!

Hi Julie,

Your in my thoughts...sorry your having such a rough time!

Sending lots of love your way!

Sarah

Thanks everyone !! I'm SOOOOO tired of this. Janet, I know how you feel when you go to one doctor and they say it's not something they deal with and so on. So my OS said my pain isn't for him to deal with, it's my back. I went today to see Neuro Surgeon and he said he'll order another MRI and see if anything is back related and if not, then it could all be because of what is all going on with my body now with the surgeries, AVN etc and would refer me to another doc and also Pain Management for injections. My BP bottom number was 101 when it's always in the 70's or 80's and I told the nurse when she said my BP was high that of course it is, I'm in constant pain.

So now I wait until they call with approval from insurance company to get me in for MRI and then back in for results and then who knows so in the mean time, I still get no relief and sit at work all day in pain.

Julie, you may not have gotten 'answers' today, but at least the neuro has a plan in place to either find the cause, or eliminate what the cause can be. If the PT and Lidocaine patches hadn't worked for my back pain, the next step would have been going to a pain management specialist for injections. Fortunately, the PT & Lidocaine patch at night has worked wonders and I have very little back pain now.

Hang in there and I'll be praying you get the MRI approval quickly and that they can quickly determine the next course of action to treat your back pain. Sending you lots of <<HUGS>>

Liz

Thanks Liz and you are right, a plan is in place and it will move forward from this point at least. Step one is done and that was getting into another doctor.

Awww...Julie :console:, I think you need to call your GP and tell him you need something for pain! Vicodin can be phoned in, but percocet you will have to pick up.

Vicodin is probably what I would ask for as they are less restrictive with dosing. You should not have to suffer like this until someone can find out what's going on. I would call your GP Julie and explain the situation to him.

He certainly knows what kind of a year you have had. Hang in there (((((HUGS)))))!

Thanks Janet !!

I still have Norco 10/325 so I take that at night time but I think I'll just take it at work too since it doesn't get me looped up. :loll:

So after lunch time I'll take that to get me through the rest of work day.

One day at a time for now.

Hi Julie, just checked in to see how you are doing. It must be so frustrating not having answers yet and STILL being in pain. But the neurosurgeon has set the wheels in motion now, and you will have answers - there is light at the end of the tunnel, somewhere. Hang in there, we're all sending you our love and support.

Glad to hear that there is a plan in place but sorry it is taking awhile. Hope the meds bring you some relief. Thinking of you

Donna

I hope the pain medication helps you until you are able to get some real relief. It must be so difficult for you.

Thinking of you ...
