I have brought forward this month's list so that you can easily see who your surgical buddies are.

Feel free post your surgery date in this thread, and I will add you to the list. Start a thread of your own in the Pre-Op Hip Section to post comments and share your journey toward hip replacement. Here's the link that gives you the instructions you need to do this:

To start a new thread, hover your mouse "HIP" on the blue line at the top of the page for the drop down menu. Click on the "Pre Op". On the upper right hand side under the "Joint Replacement Awareness Day" banner, you will see a black rectangle with the words "Post New Thread" in white. Click on this, enter whatever title you want for your thread, but do try to keep it short and sweet, then tab down to the dialogue box and start typing your post which can be as long as you need for it to be.

Hello, I am having my total hip replacement surgery (direct superior approach) on Friday, April 12. I will be doing the surgery on an outpatient basis at the Oregon Surgical Institute with Dr. Gustav Fischer in Portland, OR. This specific approach does not require cutting through any muscle. I will be walking right away after surgery and the Physical Therapist will help me walk on the walker and go up stairs before I go home. I am super excited about it and feel really confident about my surgeon, the surgery center, their practitioners and staff, and the approach I decided to take. Thanks for the support on this forum!

RTHR scheduled for April 22. I had TKR on both knees in 2014, and now the right hip. It'll be interesting the first time I try to fly and have to go through security screening - two knees, a hip, and a plate in my right wrist.

Hello everybody. I’ve just found this forum and it’s a great resource. Thank you to all who run it and contribute. I’m having my left hip replaced on 15th April in UK and am fairly anxious! It’s my first one so I’m managing my anxiety with meditation which I feel is helping a lot. Good luck to everybody else having surgery soon and thanks again.

(I also have another question which I’ll post on the pre op forum)

I am having surgery on my left hip on 4-17-19. My biggest concern is the materials used and long term effect of these materials on my overall health.

@bottomshollow, thank you for the beautiful rainbow photos...wow! Question: I thought I saw something about a scar treatment that promises to reduce scarring....is there still such a treatment being mentioned on this website?
