Hello, new here. I'm scheduled for THR on Jan 26th on left hip. Scared to death, dreading it, keep wanting to cancel it. I'm 37 and don't want to be a potato for months on end, worried about getting fat, worried about the scar and the post op pain. Basically I'm a nightmare!

I am 65 and will not allow my self to become a potatoe...You need to go into it with a great attitude...You will be up the same day of surgery...Pain is always a part of the heeling process and does not last forever...I am TRHR on Tuesday Jan 19th 730 AM.

I have brought forward this month's list so that you can easily see who your surgical buddies are.

Welcome to our latest and all January Jackpots!

@Binkyb - :welome: You aren't alone. I don't think anyone on here would say they feel relaxed about upcoming surgery.
I'm a total coward .:bolt:
If waking early in a sweat and palpitating is what you feel then I guess we're "normal" :scaredycat:
I've added you so I can keep tabs on you but my best advice is to make sure you log on regularly to this site. The contributors are wonderful and will give you great advice and support.
I'm reminding myself that I've become unfit because I'm less mobile and that's because I'm in pain.
The sooner I get this blithering hip sorted out I can then move again, then get fitter and trim up
:treadmill::upright:
Someone I know who had their's done in October has a lovely neat scar which is covered by her swimming cossie. She's just jetted off to the Carribbean. Look ahead and live!
Everyone here is either pre-Op or Post-Op so either way you'll feel less alone. Let's keep in touch x

Hi, I just found this forum and am so glad! I am Wendy from Alabama, and I am scheduled for total hip replacement on my right side on January 28. I have been cleared by my PC, and have my pre-op appt on January 26. I am a little scared, but anxious to have the pain helped.

Well I've got my pre-op tomorrow and have got a cough and a sore throat :(..........does anyone know if they are likely to cancel the op for next week now? :(

Let us know what they say, @catwoman55 -- that was one of my pre-surgery concerns - that I'd get a cold, or ..... I felt like I need to get and wear a Sars mask.

My total hip replacement is Wednesday, January 27. I expect to go home that night, with Visiting Nurse assistance for PT at home, etc, before going for out-patient PT. I'm ready since the pain has been so much worse since Christmas time…I'll be happy to get off pain killers during recovery. My surgery will be lateral.

Hey all....
I am 43 and have been in quite of pain for the last couple years. Getting a total left hip replacement on the 27th. The right will probably be next year. Obviously I am scared, nervous and all of the other stuff that normal people have/do. I am setting a goal to golf again by 4/18. Is that realiastic?

@FORE!, you have been officially added to the January surgery list!

You may decide to have that second hip done sooner once you've found out how great you first one feels. And golf in 2018 is a sure thing!

Hi @FORE! welcome aboard. One of the experts here can tell you if your goal is reasonable - but if it were me, I'd have the same goal. Good luck with your surgery. Keep us updated with how your recovery goes!

I thought @FORE! Said her surgery date is January 27th, and she want to be golfing by April 18, 2016. ....
