2013 October Feisties - Are you having knee surgery in October?

Left Total Knee scheduled October 21, 2013. Right was done May 13, 2013.

I am having TKR on my left leg only - October 22nd! Just want it over and behind me!!

pre-op tomorrow morning Ill be there all day. The starvation has began already. nothing to eat now till tomorrows blood tests. have an early start as they normally have about 50 people which they do all together so with traffic and all, a bit hectic! Looking forward to getting my day of surgery, which they will call me about next week. To you Fiesties! wishing you all an easy operation and a speedy recovery

Just keep thinking how the chronic pain will be gone on October 23rd. My thoughts of feeling better got me through the last one and I keep thinking how much better I will feel in 30 days, then 60 days, then 90 days and wow...can't wait until 120 days.

GMCCARTNEY both having the same knee done on the same day! Cheers for us.Did you have any complications with your first one? I'm so very nervous about the recovery and pain

Just think how great we will feel in the spring of the year. Yea! No complications with the first and do not expect any with the second. Just do not over-exercise. On many days I would over-do and then I would notice stiffness and some swelling, but nothing a little ice and elevation can't take care of. Remember to take your pain meds BEFORE you need them to keep the pain mild too not at all. Pillows and ice were my friends, but my bedside commode was my best friend for the first few days. No long walks to the bathroom in the night. Recovery is slow. It really isn't that bad. Just requires patience with yourself. Can't wait to get it done and on my way to recovery - we will feel great in the spring. Remember to take your time when doing ANYTHING. Your knee dominates you for a little while, but don't worry, you get used to it because it has already controlled you with pain. Gerry

They gave me my date today its Thursday the 3rd October for RTKR, officially terrified now. spent all day ;looking for elastic stockings and getting house ready.Times like this its not fun living alone.

Hi all

My op. is tomorrow and I will SO glad to be on the other side, stepping forward boldly with my new knee - (well that's the plan)

My thoughts, hugs and best wishes go out to all of our October Fiesties,, whenever in the month your op is.

When I am home from Hospital, I will post in the 'knee recovery' forum.

Good Luck JASPER. may it all go well with you. see you on the other side! going to wash my hair now and go to bed im exhaused! last minute cleaning,and organizing. the sink blocked,had to prepare for two weeks away.neighbour feeding the cat. paid my bills. checking in at the hospital at 11.30am
