TKR 2 new knees, 3 months apart oy vey

You're one week ahead of me. I seriously feel I might've turned a corner in the past few days. Less meds, sleeping better, doing more with less after effects.
I feel like I’m turning a corner, my first TKR 11 weeks was my magic number, sucked because I only had 1 good week before my second TKR.

Definitely really tough, would you do it the same way if you had it over?

I think I would, I would not want to dedicate 2 years to this horror show. Kind of like having your babies close together, get it over with

Went to PT today, since we are doing hands on, he said until the swelling behind my knee goes down, we are at a standstill. 100 ROM, very little pain, and he likes my gate I’m going to go every 2 weeks for massage and gentle stretches. The BS way worked

Congratulations! You have had some rough days and nights. I am so happy that things are going better for you.

@Rather thank you, I feel like I have about 4 good days a week, the other 3 are resting , and right now I’m ok with that

Going out and try to do some yard work today Let’s see how it goes

Just keep it to a minimum so as not to aggravate the swelling. But it should be good for your morale to get out a bit.

You couldn’t have paid me to do yard work at 8 weeks. :heehee:

I've been gardening here and there, like half hour at a time. I love doing it. Enjoy!

I would do yard work for about a half an hour then come in and ice and elevate for at least twice that long. When I first started doing it, I'd do only one thing a day. As I got better I did a little more. My knee was always in control. If I kept it happy it was a much better night!

Well no yard work today, good intentions. My friend called and we talked for an hour
I said before, I started back on Mobic, something I took for 3 years for the pain in my knees, been on it 2 days, and found myself dancing in the kitchen, if you could call it that, a few Cha-Cha steps, but no pain. It felt good

I’m glad you were spared the yard work and that you had a nice phone visit with your friend and that you feel better enough to “dance.” :egypdance:

I have always wondered how soon people do the second surgery on the second knee. I never could decide if it was better to just live some months of hell and then be done, or if I should wait until I’m feeling really good and then I’m scared I won’t want to do the other one. This is the back and forth I continue to do, hence why I haven’t had surgery yet. I’m going to have to be by myself a large part of the time and this has been nice to read the comments of everyone!!

So interesting to see what you decide.

I’m glad I had them done 3 months apart, believe me it was a horror show, but I was in the mind space of knowing I was in for 6 months of hell. I said it’s like having your babies close together, get it done

@badkneez I took the first date my surgeon offered for this leg, then asked when I could reasonably expect my leg to be up for solo-duty. So 2 months is on our calendar.

Today was a good, did a bit of shopping, came home and iced, and now having dinner. Honestly I didn’t have any pain today. Stiffness yes, pain no. I’m seeing light at the end of the tunnel
