What a great photo. You are a handsome couple and Banjo is gorgeous. I am on my 4th Golden. Such good natured, gentle souls. Happy New Year. Happy New Hip.
@poppett. That was quite a detailed description of your dreadful fall. How lucky you were to be in the capable hands of your hubby. On the few occasions when I have fallen (pre THR) in no way could I articulate in such detail what actually happened to me. I would just find myself on the...
@beachgal I think you are absolutely right about walking in the water. I stuck with my regular street walking :rotfl: this past week and the unexplained pain slowly disappeared. Yesterday I walked 8 miles and I feel great. Soon it will be too cold here in S Florida for going to the pool...
@Poppet I would like to change the name of my thread please. Please preface it with the purple THR and change it to "Did I Really Have a Total Hip Replacement?"
I have been feeling very good and have been quite active. I have been walking about 6 miles a day and yesterday I also went in the pool and walked and exercised. Today, out of nowhere I have some level of pain. Some feels like it is deep within the incision and some is muscular traveling down...
@xtina16405 I definitely would skip the football game. Sitting on bleachers on a good day is difficult. I had my surgery on 8/25 and I struggle to sit on a comfy chair for extended periods of time . I am sure your son will understand. I was a football Mom too and I know how much you want to...
Today I can honestly say that I am barely aware that I even had THR 6 weeks and 5 days ago. I cannot believe how good I am feeling and how well I am doing. I am so thankful to my fabulous doctor for doing such a great job. I have totally enjoyed being a part of this forum with so many bright...
@Jamie Yes, I am doing great. Today is 6 weeks since surgery. Yesterday I walked 5 miles. Tomorrow I have a follow up appointment with OS. I presume I will be officially discharged. It's really quite astounding. Those first 2 rough weeks are but a distant memory now. :loveshwr:
Five weeks of lost income = :censored:. Surgeon = $5,500 ( he has opted out of Medicare). Private room extra fee = $600. Have not received any other bills yet. Pain free hip = PRICELESS. :yes!:
@MarkK Hi Mark thanks for the feedback. Since my original post I am now able to walk without anything. I bought a folding cane that I tuck away in my purse "just in case", but thus far I have not needed to use it. I find it amazing how quickly things change and how quickly I have recovered...
@cthipster Thanks for the encouraging words. Tomorrow I will be four weeks out from surgery. I am now mainly listening to my own body. Pre-bone on bone I used to walk about 8 miles a day. I have been doing all of my walking in the pool for several months. I want to put on my pedometer and hit...
I had a mini-posterior RTHR on 8/25/14. Today I am 3 weeks and 5 days into my recovery. I am getting mixed signals from my PT versus the OS PA. My PT seems rather conservative. He has told me that even though I might be feeling good, I am not healed and need to be uber-cautious. When I went...
