Good morning in the pool. Did the jacuzzi exercises then off to the pool to do laps. Did 1/2 mile of walking. Then off to the deep pool to do more workout. My PT did an evaluation yesterday after 7 sessions of PT. When I started my ROM was 93 and now 104. So in pleased with the numbers. I will continue to work in the pool. I have a routine that I follow. I spent about 1.5 hours in water today. Have a nice weekend everyone.

Margie--you are awesome!!! That is a lot of work that you are doing and I think you are right on the mark to do it. Congratulations on your improved rom, you have earned it. Kelly

Bouncing this thread back up so that new members can catch it. There has been lots of good posts about water exercise. I go 3 or 4 times a week. It really helps the knee and also with overall strength. Sometimes it is hard to get there as I am back to all my former activities but when I get there, I don' t want to leave! I have my 3 mo. apt. with my OS at the end of the month so I will keep on exercising in the pool for improvement and enjoyment. I want to get a good progress report. My OS did a great job and I want to do well on my part.

My pool closed last week for renovations to the building. I already miss it! I stopped at a big rec center nearby yesterday, but even from the handicap parking, the distance to walk in, get to the locker room and out to the pool area was too much with two bad knees! My search goes on...

Janet, after you surgery and recovery, the parking and the distance to walk will no longer be a problem. It is hard to imagine now but amazing things are coming your way! I am surprised on a daily basis when I can do something that was not possible just a few months ago!

Hi i went to hydrotherapy for 6 weeks with my PT who showed me excercises to do i.e. running in deep water, squats etc but one that was very useful for improving flexion was to get a childs inflatable arm band and put this (I had to get help get it on at first) around the instep of my foot on the operated knee side and then gently let it float up behind you, bending the knee up as it floats up behind you (as if you are trying to kick your own butt with your heel) and then lower it again and repeat 10 times, this really helped with flexion and stretching the thigh muscles and was not painful in the water.

I found out that water therapy will have to wait until after my doctor visit in 6 more weeks. :cry4:I am sad because I will not be able to get in my pool till nearly the end of June.

Bj, you can get into the pool when you scar is completely healed--no scabs, no open bits. It is better in your own pool, cleaner than a gym or city pool. Kelly
