Jamie ~ Thank you! I do need some pampering, but I do manage to do that when I go out with friends for lunch or for my mani/pedi every other week, and a massage now and then too. It's difficult to pamper myself at home since my hubby is home so much. He's the senior partner in his firm and does go to his office, but he can also connect to his office computer from our home office (which we share). We each have our own computer with double monitors and our desks are only about four feet apart. I read somewhere, "A marriage can survive anything except a husband home all day."

And, having a friend over would end up with my hubby joining in on our conversation.

Roy ~ You're so right...I'm definitely not in any condition to give my hubby a KITA (as much as he surely deserves it!).

Is this the equivalent to the Louisville Slugger?

I can't do that either. I'm not a physically violent person. I am however, a Drama Queen.

I will try to be more assertive when I see the surgeon next week. I do know that it's my knee, but telling him that I know that I WILL fully recover without 'his way' (of pushing through the pain and being a little soldier) and that I know that I will dance again, but not as soon as I'd hoped. This may end up with me not having much of an audience!

Limpin'Lizzie ~ I'm glad you like my smileys! I have to have them as they add my personality to my messages.

I don't know where you live, but I'm in Southern California. As for getting our husbands' thinking straightened out...I'm afraid that it's too late here. I'm from the era where my husband was and always will be, "The Boss" in our house. And, you have a surgeon who is retiring.

Lucky Girl! My surgeon is young and probably won't retire for many years yet. I'll let you know what my surgeon says next week.

Jacky48 ~ I don't know if I can get my hubby to watch the video. I know that I can't.

I'm really not certain that him watching it would change his attitude either. I do like your response to your husband's unsolicited advice!

Oh, how true! When my husband became self-employed and started his consulting business from home, I spent the first year feeling like murdering him because he was under foot all the time. Suddenly, things I had managed efficiently while he was away at work seemed to require his constant input.

It took quite a while for us to come to an arrangement where we could each work without hampering the other. The solution for us was to have our computers in separate rooms. I still grit my teeth when he offers unnecessary advice, but I carry on doing things my way. I, too, am from an era where the man thought he was "The Boss" but a string of strong minded women in my ancestry taught me to let him think he's The Boss (if he must) but to continue to do things the way I wanted. It's useless to try and convince him when he doesn't want to listen.

Don't let your husband or your Doctor intimidate you into changing from doing what is right for your knee. You say that you are not good at confrontation but you are a Drama Queen. Well, if all else fails, play that role to the hilt and pull out a massive (and loud) crying fit. Men hate tears and they'll often back off if you do that!

Our house is long and narrow. His office and computer is at one end. My office and computer at the other end. Makes things quite harmonious.

I hear y'all! My husband retired a year and half ago...oh my gosh! It sent me into depression months beforehand!! I'm much better now....he's in the west wing and I'm in the east wing....hahahaha!

I'm afraid that it has to be that we share the office because it has been 'the office' for years and years. One desk, one computer (with double monitors) and if my hubby needed to do work, I was the one given the boot.

When our boys moved out, one room became the office and the other became the library. I didn't want to change one of the guest rooms into an office too, so I redid the office. It's very conveniently located on the top floor, down the hall from our bedroom. It's really nice and cozy until we're in it together for long periods of time. Fortunately, that doesn't happen too often.

Instead of west wing/east wing, (Limpin'Lizzie) or one end or the other, (Margaret) I guess we'll remain in the right wing together.

Sometimes I crack myself up!

Well, I had acupuncture

yesterday and I told Don (my acupuncturist) to just put needles in every part of my aching body! I was really worried that I would feel worse after doing so much this past weekend, but I was OK!

I'm still a loooooong way from saying that I'm glad I had the TKR!

I can't remember who said this, but it stuck in my head because I feel the same way... He said, "When asked if I'm happy that I had the knee replacement surgery, I respond, "Not yet!"
