TKR TKR Left Knee

@KFTCS At six months out I doubt this has anything to do with your TKR. Best to check with your family doctor.

Is it just your one ankle? Have you tried to elevate it?

Yes, it was just my left leg, the one I had the TKR on last October.
I elevated it and iced it (just in case) and it seemed to go away.
Today it's barely swollen, just a miniscule amount - unless I'm just looking for it so I see it...

Yay! It must have been just one of those things that happen that have no real explanation. At least it has gotten so much better.

Hello and a belated Happy Six Month Anniversary, Lefty!

Tomorrow is your big day. I wish you an uneventful surgery and an easy recovery.
Please update us when you're back home resting comfortably.
Hugs and best wishes!

Everything went well, thanks for reaching out. This one’s a little more painful than the last one but still nothing that I need painkillers for so I’m happy. Heading over to post a picture of this scar, lol!

Congrats and :welome:to recovery!
It sounds like things are tolerable right now. I hope it stays that way and you sleep well tonite!
@KFCTS

Good Luck! Hope all continues to go well with your new surgery.
I am 6 months out as well. I think this is probably a sensible gap between surgery. I think I could now do it again, if I had to. But very grateful that I don't.

Happy One Month Anniversary!
How is your recovery going? Please let us know when you have the time. We'd love to hear from you.
Wishing you all the best!

So far, so good!
Thankfully this was another pain free surgery. I followed the non-narcotic medical protocol: aspirin for blood clots (for 30 days), tylenol, celecoxib, pregabalin and cephalexin (an antibiotic, for 4 days). This was enough to keep any pain at bay. All I have ever felt is stiffness from the swelling. I iced using an ice machine or ice packs and walked every hour on the hour.
I don't have a bathroom on my first floor so when I came home from same-day surgery, I had to climb the stairs to the second floor. For the next two weeks I came downstairs in the morning with my husband and stayed there until he came home from work. We had a commode set up so I would not have to climb stairs when I was home alone.
By the third day I walked 7 houses up the street to the corner and back.
I have had such a great experience with both knee replacements, I have no complaints at all.
I am in PT now, twice a week, and following the exercise protocol on the ZB MyMobility app every day, twice a day at the very least. I'm driving, walking, climbing stairs (slowly) and can't be happier.
Waiting patiently for the swelling to go down and the skin sensitivity to lessen but if that's the worst of my two surgeries in the last 6 months, I am HAPPY!!!
I hope everyone has as good an experience as I've had!

Hello KFTCS
What wonderful recoveries you have. You are blessed! I think accounts like yours are very inspiring to those following behind so I thank you for taking the time to share. May it only get better! :)
@KFTCS

Happy Two Month Anniversary!
How have you been over the past month? Hopefully you're doing well and gaining strength week by week.
Two brand new knees...the possibilities are endless. :egypdance: Enjoy!

Thankfully, doing well. Surgery was just as easy as the first, recovery as easy, but different. Everyone more than me not to compare knees, but it’s tough when you’re the same person, you had the same surgeon, in the same hospital, for the same problem.

But I did my best not to compare. So far the differences I’ve noticed is I didn’t have as much skin sensitivity postop. I didn’t have as much numbness from ankle to knee as I did on the left. But I had much more bruising on my right leg, and a little bit of pain on the inner ankle. I asked about that and my PA said it could’ve been from positioning during surgery. Last week I had two sharp pains in my knee while riding the bike at the gym. I just do 10 minutes as a warm-up to loosen my joint. I never had those pains in my left knee. The next day I went to PT and I asked him, and he asked me if I still had the pain, if it lasted. When I said no, he said not to worry about it that it was likely tendons or ligaments or muscles. So, I stopped worrying. Haven’t had the pain since.

I’m almost afraid to tell everyone here what an easy time I had with both surgery. I read so many accounts of people who had a lot of pain, slow, recovery, slow ROM recovery, even depression, and melancholy. I had none of that. I feel like a poster child for knee surgery, except for the fact that I really hate exercise and doing it, it’s not fun. But you have to do it to recover, so I do.

Good luck to everyone who’s had it, or is scheduled to have it!

People like to read updates like yours, so thanks for your honesty. Recovery can and does go well for the majority.
It's great you're doing so well. Happy Three Month Anniversary!

I feel like a real change has happened. I had a very easy surgery/recovery as I mentioned. Dr recommended some additional PT for more right quad strength. Went on a mini vacation where I had to super rush across the airport to catch my connecting flight and missed 12 gym days in all when I came home with a mild case of C0vid.

But my knee feels incredible! It feels as though overnight I can do stairs more easily, both up alls down! I didn’t have this noticeable change with my left knee; it was a more gradual improvement.

So happy!!!!!

Your missed 12 gym days probably have something to do with your knee doing so well. You've been stuck home resting from Covid and your knee liked it! It's so good to read about your good recovery!
