Costco big blocks, 5 lbs, I'll have to look. Dare I ask how Much$?

A five pound block of cheese and a bottle of 500 stool softeners..just sayin'

I don't have that problem with cheese. I know most people do.

On the too funny side...

We were at the Tillamook Cheese factory in Oregon last week

Bought some cheese only to find it cheaper at Safeway when we returned home to Seattle...

That does not surprise me.... I buy it at WinCo for much less than in Tilly--- but isn't the factory a cool place? And it is good cheese, no matter where you buy it!

I taught in Tmook for 4 years, but commuted from Lincoln City (45 mi. away) because I didn't want to move to Tmook. It can be very, uh, aromatic around there. When I commented on it--- a friend said "money---- that is the smell of money"

That cheese sounds wonderful, but just checked several grocery stores online, including Costco, but it doesn't appear to be here in Ontario. GROAN!!!! I love strong cheese.

See what you started Carolyn. Or actually it goes back to Jim and his favorite ice cream question. We all couldn't just talk about ice cream, we ended up on cheeses. Tillamook owes some one a thank you. Like when Oprah mentions some product and it becomes outrageously popular.

That is precisely what we say about the smell of salmon here in Seattle!

Back when I used to do the grocery shopping (before hubby retired), it was about $12. I'm not sure what it costs now. I asked him, but he doesn't remember...his mind ain't what it used to be.

Sue, it's not that our minds aren't what they used to be.
It is just that we men tend to buy where women tend to shop.
My wife says I shop like the Tasmanian Devil. And I do.
I do most of the shopping, cooking, cleaning etc. I'm retired, that's my job now.
The hardest thing for me is to plan and shop for meals..I just flat out can't do it. So I buy lots of stuff and just cook.

Good price on the cheese. I'll check for it next time I go to costco. Well doug, then it really is an age or stage of life thing because I used to do all that planning as well, through my 30's and now I see things never go to plan half the time any way so I don't plan as much. I was working but am not now since the surgery. So maybe with more time I can get a routine going. That is still hard. I'm trying to get back in do mode.

Foul! The only way I can shop is by need. What do I want to eat each day and what do I need to get in order to eat that. I only buy what I plan to eat each day, if ya don't like what I fix.................

Gat, that's pretty much how I do it. I pretty much shop most days. When I cook, that's it. Eat it or don't.
For awhile I found myself cooking it once and heating it twice. My wife may end up working late or come home and then leave to do her work out. Then my son goes to Kenpo or Kickboxing 5 nights a week.
I quit...Told them "there's the kitchen, there's the microwave, heat, eat, and clean up".
Soooooooooo, when they get home I heat it and end up cleaning up..tough guy that I am.

Just got back from buying the most expensive chunk of cheese I've ever bought.
Extra sharp. $7.00 for 8oz. I'm not even going to open it yet. I think I'll just open the fridge and admire it a couple of times until I dive on it tonight.

Then put it on the cabinet and let it come to room temperature.
Actually, cheese isn't meant to be refrigerated, even though most of us do. We're to keep it at room temp and covered with a glass dome.....you're to wipe the condensation off of it regulary.

Yes, I am the boss.

Yes mam..It's going to look funny. An 8oz block of cheese under a cake dome. For that matter I can stick it in a drinking glass and turn it upside down.

This would be a good time for you to run to the store and buy a proper cheese container, dougie! DO IT!

Okay....eat your cold, tasteless cheese.
Don't you remember buying cheese off the hoop in the local stores? Remember how delicious it was....all flavorful and soft, the way God intended???????

GIT!
