Had my second outpatient PT visit late yesterday. Started me on the exercise bike for 10 min. then worked through about 8 stretching exercises including balancing on my operated leg and using it to go up a stair and back down. I was confused over the muscle strain I felt over the top of my thigh towards the inside, and the therapist isolated the cause as the fact that my leg has been realigned and the muscles are having to learn how to work differently than before when I had the dysplasia. I guess that makes sense...She gave me specific exercises to target that muscle and told me walking 30 min was great. Told me I can increase the time by 2 min. a day as long as it doesn't cause pain. This morning I did most of my exercises, but decided to just walk 15 min. and if I do well I will do another 15 min. late afternoon. They also had me walking around the center without my cane which I found surprisingly easy. I'm keeping it handy and will certainly take it if I leave the house, but am very carefully walking inside the house without it. The only real issue I still have is insomnia, which is to be expected based on what I read here. Still waking up at 2am and can't fall back to sleep. It's not from pain or anything I can figure out. I can't nap during the day at all either..just not sleepy. So overall feeling run down from that but trying to keep my chin up! I work from home, and am back full time but trust me, it's at a very slow and non-pressured pace and I'm free to be up and moving about or resting as much as I need.
