[Bonesmart.org] Stiffness but no hip pain

Just setting up my walker. I'm thinking it's close to battle ready :heehee:

Handy bag, grabber and long handled shoe horn. I've practiced the toilet with raised seat... I won't go into detail but it was a challenge. Glad I practiced though because I did eventually work out how to successfully aim the 'happypo' gadget. I now know that I'll need a handy refill bottle to account for probable misses. I've built a nest next to my recliner with all sorts at hand. The recliner will be bed initially, until I'm steady enough to manoeuvre my abnormally high bed. Bag for hospital almost packed. Very much in proactive, focused and get ready mode. The chronic anxiety has gone, I hope!!! Thanks to you lovely people and a few others contacting me to cheer me on. Onwards and upwards... I'm one step away from the recovery bus :flwrysmile:

Good Afternoon Deni!
It's the final countdown to your big day. I'm excited for you!
It appears you're ready to go. The toileting may not be as difficult as you're anticipating. I found not much of anything as daunting as I imagined it would be.

I slept in a recliner for three weeks...amazingly well. I normally had one bathroom run in the middle of the night, then back to sleep. I was surprised and felt well rested.

A tip you may have read here somewhere, but in case you haven't is to make use of trash bags. When it's time to head home from your surgery site, a garbage bag on the car seat you will help you easily swivel to windshield facing position. Also, a trash bag is handy again when you do decide to get into bed because it will help you easily move in from the edge of the bed, toward center, removing friction between sheets and bed clothes.

I will be thinking of you and lifting you in prayer :prayer:for peace of mind, an uneventful surgery and easy peasy recovery.
See you on the flip side soon! :)
@Deni444

Thank so much @Layla
Life saver because I'd completely forgotten about the trash bag! I'm so very grateful for your prayers, and all of your amazing tips... thank you :loveshwr: Absolutely amazing day here, it's like summer and so unusual for us this time of year. We sat out on the patio having lunch. I'm now super sleepy from a burst of sunshine on my face. Contemplating a nap and just think, let it all happen, I'm ready and anything else I've forgotten, I'll do without. I'm as chilled as a cucumber and looking forward to finally being able to update you all on my recovery.

Good luck @Deni444 !!

It's 6.05 AM here Wednesday morning and I'm waiting for my train to take me to work and am thinking of you.

One more sleep to go.

Can't wait to meet you on the other side.

You've got this !!

:loveshwr:

Thanks Ash :) :-) (: I've had the most remarkable day. Not at all how I expected the day before surgery to be. Sat outside, had a bonfire supper, new born lambs running in the field, saw the first bat of the season, watched the sun go down and the stars come out. It was like the middle of summer. Almost bedtime now and I'm calm and ready! Have a wonderful day at work and I'll update on the recovery side as soon as I'm able :flwrysmile:

Hi Deni,
Thinking of you this morning, way over yonder, across the pond. It's early morning here, but not for you. I hope you're in recovery by now, resting comfortably with pain well managed. Will look forward to hearing from you once you're feeling up to it. Hugs! :friends:
@Deni444

I'm done! Quite literally like, taking a nap in a strange room. Spinal, enough sedation to fall to sleep. Woke up like I'd had a refreshing nap. Chatting away to everyone. I was still in theatre but they had finished and just doing paperwork and clear up. It's only been an hour and a half since getting back to my room and I'm on my second coffee and I've eaten lunch of an egg mayo sandwich.

My next update will be on the recovery thread side. Just wanted to share a quick thumbs up :flwrysmile: :wave:

Bravo!!! Well done…and now you’re on your way!

Yiipppppeeeeeeee !!!!

Am SO happy for you.

Looking forward to sharing your recovery with you.

Ash xx

Thank you @msart :flwrysmile: I have a recovery thread if you want to look in on my highs and lows. My biggest low at the moment is a stressed husband... I wonder who the patient is at times... Say no more... Rant over :tantrum2: :hissy::hairpulling:
