MUA Spinners new knee recovery

Thank you!
Biggest thing also was the terrible grabbing pain behind mine knee when I bend has prett much stopped

I seem to have developed some rather intense pain behind my ankle ,more in the Achilles area up my lower calf . Then sometimes on the side of my leg near the ankle . I stretch ,ice and massage it but the pain gets intense sometimes almost making me stumble taking a step .
Anyone else have this ? Or know what else to do for relief ?

Are you wearing the shoes/sneakers that you wore before your surgery? My sneakers were worn on the outside of my foot. I went to a running store where they analyzed my gait, how my foot hit the ground and then were able to suggest a couple of pairs and fit them for me. Just a thought.

That's a good thought . I got new ones right before surgery at the ruining store . But my foot strike may be off now . Thanks , I'll check things out .

I am having inflammation pretty much all the time at night and through the day it is like a burning front and back of my knee but also my entire shin to my foot . At night it keeps me awake .
I have been icing several times a day ,at night ,middle if the night ,and when I wake . Ibuprofen does not seem to kick it .
Doing my bike ,very tight but does loosen up after about 10 minutes.
Anyone else experiencing this when this far after surgery ? Any ideas how to fight this ?
Help !

@spinnerdiva
You could try drastically cutting back all your activity for a couple of weeks and see if that helps.

It sounds as if your Achilles tendon could be inflamed. When I had tendinitis in my ankle, my PT suggested alternating ice and heat on it (just that area, not the knee). I don't know if it hastened the healing of the tendon, but it did feel soothing.

@Celle
Thanks I will try the heat and ice .
I will try and cut back ,but I was to be back at work now and got an extension of 2 more weeks off so I was trying to get ready

Mid Feb I will be 6 months from surgery and have been unable to return to work . I wanted to try 2 wks ago ,company doc said no ,tried again this past week and they still won't let me . I still can barely go up let alone down stairs other than one leg at a time . Can't kneel or squat other that to sit .
I have a pain and grab that happens when I try to bend that is behind my knee and I can't flex beyond that ,
Last time I saw my OS was in November ,had an injection to try an calm the swelling and pain . About a week after the behind the knee pain was gone and I was back to making progress ! Since then however it has slowly has come back to now it is as before . The company doc has me going back to my OS end of this week to see what may be happening .
This is so depressing . I have done everything I am supposed to do ! Ice ,elevate ,rest ,stretch ,gentle exercise,massage ,ride my indoor bike , ultrasound at PT . The MUA gained my a good bit and helped the front of my knee pain and stiffness .
I am at my wits end and exhausted .
Has anyone experienced this ?

I'm so sorry to hear about your ptoblems. It is frustrating when it seems that our outcomes to a TKR are not what we expected. Give your OS a call and see what they say. If they don't address the problem you might need to see a different doctor. Hopefully you will begin to progress again soon.

Now I am to try' a compounded prescription cream of a topical steroid added to the ultra sound gel during my PT treatments in hopes of calming things down . Backing off except to peddle the indoor bike ,stretch and ice .
This roller coaster hopefully will stop soon ! The behind the knee pain was gone and now is back with a vengeance . Headed into 6 months out ,ready to move on a bit !

Has anyone had better results from using Naproxen ( Aleve / Motrin ) vs Ibuprofen ( Advil ) when it comes to help in fighting inflammation ? Natural Tutmeric ?
Pros , cons ?
I need to attempt getting back to work and I know I will be fighting this .

spinnerdiva,
I think you need a fresh set of eyes on your knee. Suggest you seek out a surgeon not associated with your present surgeon, who is a revision specialist. You can use the find a clinic button at the top of the page. Their web sites will say they do revisions or complex knee reconstruction.
Good luck with finding some answers as to why you are having so much knee pain.

@spinnerdiva I lived on Ibuprofen for years..worked better for me. About a year ago my PCP changed me to Meloxicam. I had started to have some stomach probs and the Meloxicam is only 1 per day. It has been working great for me.
