MUA Spinners new knee recovery

We'll change your prefix to "MUA" as soon as you let us know it's done.

Hope this procedure goes well. What is a the main reason why you have to have this procedure.

MUA went well this morning. My husband said the doc told him he got full range and was pleased . Don't know my # though ,
Other than pain in recovery that was quickly handled I have less than when I went it . I am using one thing I learned after my replacement though to keep the pain meds by the clock for a bit !
I was sent on with a CPM to use for 2 weeks . So far that is going well and gentle Icing and elevating.

Lesan - I had the procedure as I was not progressing with my ROM or with lack of pain . I had a great deal of adhesions from a prev and the current surgery causing me pain and lack of movement past a point this far after my surgery .

I'm glad it went well, @spinnerdiva

Doing the MUA will have caused some soft tissue damage, so be prepared for some pain. Rest, ice and elevate, and take the pain meds. Exercise only gently - you don't want to inflame those tissues that were wounded.

Thanks , I am preparing myself for a flare up .:iagree:

First full day after my procedure and doing well What pain I have is very easy to manage ,keeping the pills right on time The hours I have to do on a he CPM machine seem to be the hardest part just being bored !
I hope the next two weeks keep heading in the right direction ! For now I feel so much better than I did a few days ago ,it was worth it .

Can my thread be changed to Spinners new knee recovery ? The pain advise is really not relevant now .

You're not doing PT after the MUA? My OS wanted me to have daily PT after mine. I even had it the day of the procedure.

My quads were very painful for a few days afterwards.

Yes he has me doing PT 5 days a week for two weeks with the 6 hrs a day on the CPM at home ,2 hrs on 2 hrs off .
My quad hurt before my MUA and seems much better after .
I joke now my life is in two hr stages !

Oh my gosh! I thought the daily PT was more than enough... can't imagine the six hours of the CPM. It'll be over before you know it!

Thanks , hopefully this will all be a memory soon ! The machine is not as bad as I had it built up in my head thankfully !

My goodness , is there anyway that is comfortable to stay on the CPM for the 2 hrs . I have been lying in bed with it , propped my head with pillows to read and watch TV , tried to prop up more seated . Seems by the end of my time ... Esp my 3 red session to get the 6 hrs , all the rest of my body hurts ! On my hrs off of it all I can get done is stretching everything and walking around the house . Hopefully these 2weeks start to speed along !
Hope everyone is having a good pain free weekend

I fell asleep in mine. Found it very soothing. I would lie completely flat except for the CPM machine. Not even a pillow. And make sure your body is straight. Hope that will help you not be sore.

Thanks ! I slept during one session , tossed out all the pillows .
I think I am having a bit of the "after" MUA Blues I would call it . The steroid shot has worn off ,muscle soreness in my calf and shin setting in . Still the knee does feel better ,just working on the stiffness and trying to be patient! But as we all know that is the hard part

What's your ROM like now? I don't read anything about that or have I just missed it?

@Josephine , today I am at 99 on the CPM . It was set to start at 90 Wed when I left the hospital for the bend .
Tomorrow the plan is to increase by 2 and have 101.
I guess I hadn't updated my ROM since I went in for the procedure. Which at that time in the Dr office it was 87 when he scheduled the MUA
When I was measured at PT day before my DR appt it was 90 ( and I was warmed up )

When they fitted me at discharge his words were .. No need to be a hero , increase the range everyday for two weeks . OS wants me at least 110 when I see him again . Slow going for sure !

Little milestone today
Finally got a rotation both ways on that darn bike at PT !
Seat was back and I had to do a tiny hip hike ,but I made it
Still had pain behind my knee but my massage therapist worked on that .
Now back on the PCM , up to 101 today .Whew .
