I understand Jeano , i do the same thing at the gym , myself. Lol. Ha ha ha ha ha !!! God bless you Jeano
United StatesIt's got nothing to do with math, @jeano It's to do with angles and stresses. Of the many knee surgeons with whom I am acquainted, not one of them doesn't advise against using a leg press for at least 6 months post-op as the action+weight risks the fixation of the implants, particularly the tibial component. This is particularly risky with partials which loosen readily enough as it is. I strongly advise you to leave the leg press along totally until the 6 months is up.@icep707 phooey on your dire warnings against the measly 120 pounds on the leg press. Let's do the math.
@TexasTee you have this wrong. The so-called 'quads snip' is a very old technique and nowadays is only used where extras access is required which is rare. No self-respecting knee surgeon would use this in a standard primary knee replacement. I've spoken to any number of surgeons about it an most goI'm not sure that is the case
and shake their heads in disbelief! The site was updated in 2013 but that article has been on there for years! Don't forget that there are heaps of articles like this on the internet which are years old and the authors never update them Unlike BoneSmart - we keep current because we regularly go through them and edit them as and where necessary. The article you quoted is still on our 'to do' list so we will be getting to that very soon. From John's Hopkins - again, last year.

That will be a wonderful day when they are able to successfully replace our knees with, our test tube knees!Wouldn't you hate to be the last person with metal and plastic implants after the rest of the world has gotten beautiful test tube replacement cartilage?
Someone should tell PTs this. My PT put me on one with light weight for 10 repetitions--but in her defense it was mostly to put me in the same position as the wall slide for ROM. Also maybe since I refused the squats? I can tell you I haven't done it since. It's got nothing to do with math, @jeano It's to do with angles and stresses. I'm happy with them so far, @Celle. I'll be pretty pleased with 10-15 years, since I'm convinced I'm doomed to revisions anyway.
