I was joking around with the idea of growing a new leg,

I know Sean. I was just going with it. Made me think about how they grow human ears on the backs of mice...LOL!

ETA the custom joint would be awesome, but regrowing cartilage would be even better. No need for surgery if they can repair the cartilage.

Maybe it will be like Star Trek, where you just step into a tube and all your issues are resolved!

So glad you are doing so well Sean! Are you going to have a phased return to work? It's one thing dealing with recovery from a recliner. The everyday grind of work can add to the energy drain.

Butterfly - I like the star trek idea. Hopefully I'm around for that.

Jaycey - I'm not quite doing that schedule, but I will be ramping up. I spoke with my Manager and HR departments today, I'll do 20 hours next week, 30 hours Dec 9th, and 40 hours Dec 16th forward. My company has been super flexible. I'm working from home indefinitely. Probably until New Years or so.

Remember, Rest, Rest, Rest, Is the way to go. Go slow and it will be ok. I know that now that the bone on bone pain is gone, you feel better but do remember to take a easy. Tashia

sean5033, I missed your whole recovery! I'm so glad your recovery is going so well. More amazing moments to come. I have been so back in the mix of work and jiujitsu (3x's a week), and talking myself out of going more, that it's hard to think I had hip surgery! I read your whole recovery thread and I didn't urinate for 6 hours after they removed the catheter! I was scared to death to pee. The whole experience makes you question why you lived with the pain for so long. Happy to hear you are doing great, brother.

bsilvers I think *I* almost missed my recovery! It's gone so fast! Today is day 28 and I'm up walking around better than ever. I met my coworkers for lunch, didn't use a handicap spot (It was an uncrowded Steak N Shake). They were shocked that I wasn't using a walker, cane, and my limp was just slightly noticeable. I can't wait to jump on my bike and start riding again! But I'm going to wait until Dr says that's okay. I'm not going to assume I can because I feel amazing.

RE the whole Pee thing, I'd called the nurses 2-3 times to get me out of bed, and they got me out, left the room and gave me some space. I'd stand there over the toilet for 10 minutes wondering why my plumbing wasn't working. I'd try turning the faucet on, "resetting" by pulling my pants up, taking a few steps back, and then trying to go again. I moved the high seat away so that it looked normal... I had tried everything, and I still couldn't go! It took them threatening another catheter and another 15 minutes to sort that out. Because of that, they wanted to test a urine sample before my discharge. But they told me AFTER I'd gone to the bathroom. So I had to wait until I had to pee again., then go through all of that. Then they LOST my pee sample on it's way to the lab!! So I had to do it AGAIN! I've never had such pressure on my ability to urinate before. It was a little bit absurd.
