THR Sarah Bee (Re)Learns to Walk.

I may have mentioned this, but.... The surgeon came in.Few restrictions, don't rub dirt on the incision, no pulling my foot over my head, etc. :spin:

The PT will come on Friday to my home. We will work on steps, using walker. OS doesn't want extreme exercises. Feels walking serves the best purpose.

Have been unable to empty my bladder since this morning. Arggghhh! It is a lovely even and I am peace and peaceful. Thank you Lord for this day.
:prayer:

You have a great surgeon! “Don’t rub dirt in the incision” has me laughing out loud.

Walking is definitely the way to go. Please don’t join the ODIC as many of us have in the past. :/)

I know it has been discussed on someone's thread. Suggestions for dry mouth. Pretty sure it's caused by one of my meds.

Glad all went well @SarahBee... you girls are really showing how it’s done with those pain free new hips...
I just sucked some Jakemans cough sweets to alleviate dry mouth... & lots of water...
Take it easy... you will be home soon enough! xx

Happy Thursday!
I'm sure the dry mouth is caused by meds. Hydration is very important post op. It helps the anesthesia be flushed out and also helps decrease constipation among other things. For the dry mouth, I've read chewing sugar free gum or sucking on sugar free hard candies can stimulate the flow of saliva. May be worth a try?
Limit caffeine intake because it makes your mouth drier.

I hope you're having a good day so far, Sarah. Wishing you comfort as you begin your healing journey.

Sarahbee! Happy to hear you’re doing well! I knew you would. I have dry mouth too- definitely getting some hard candy! How did you sleep? I am amazed how well I slept-even on operated side! PT coming in an hour but I’m taking everyone advice and going SLOWLY.

You slept (and were allowed to) on your operated side??????

@beachlily Just finished my physical therapy (which I pretended was a test) and aced it! Have seen my OS and my hospital physician and both have cleared me to go home!

PT comes tomorrow to work on walking, stairs, etc. OS told me to go outside and walk. Nothing that hurts. I love this guy!

You slept (and were allowed to) on your operated side??????

Yes. OS said if I wanted to it was fine-just move both legs together and keep body pillow between legs. I was happy because sleeping on my back is uncomfortable.

I made an error! I slept on non operated leg with operated leg on top of pillow. Sorry-apparently meds have me loopy
