I'm not sure I have anything to offer but when you say you have "bone pain" I want to know how do you differentiate bone pain from other kind of pain?
I have an idea but I will wait for your answer. I'm glad you have a call to your Dr.

My thoughts are with you. It took me 5 days after 2 units of blood to get my energy back. I was nauseous for 6 days post surgery. It started on the second day, and my hip booklet said it was due to low iron. I just wanted to sleep. I had low blood pressure for 11weeks while in hospital. A typical reading was 85 over 55, yet I felt to ill effects, it finally rose some on my third month. It does take a ton of patients, but the weeks go fast. Is your pain under control, its very important. My pre op class stressed not to be a hero and keep on top with regular pain meds. I was fortunate I was actually able to decrease my pain meds from what I was taking right after surgery. I was pain free for the first time in 3 yrs. I still treasure the memory, as my back pain is reappearing. It does get better, I have read some very inspiring stories here. Hopefully the bone pain will subside or get controlled. Just think you made it through the surgery, it gets easier. I tend to have a melt down facing doing the anesthetic. I look forward to following your progress.

@lalo - best way to describe bone pain - it's more of an ache! It feels like it did when I fractured my hip. I have stairs at a lake house and going up is great, going down is usually when I get "bone pain". I'm hoping it's just the stem settling. It usually disappears a day or two after I get home from lake. It's 15 stairs.

@3rd Dislocation - Thanks! I'm sure it will pass. It's just hard not to get too impatient for it to be over with! I see you have endured a lot! Hope everything is going your way!

@ Rubadub, its difficult for active people to be still, its nice that you have great weather out your way. I was able to find a couple nice nature spots to sit and read while I was in my local hospital. You'll laugh I even started to weed their raised flower beds from my wheelchair I was so bored. These beds weren't done all summer, they looked a lot better when I finished. The weeds were 2 ft tall. I learned how to do several things from a wheelchair, but I'm striving to get back to pre hip pain condition. I miss traipsing through the bush and picking berries. Ive used the wheelchair only once since I've been home. The thing I found the hardest for me was coping mentally. Try and keep active with social contacts. While I was in Edmonton at the rehab hospital, I had lots of visits with old friends, as I had moved from the city 10 yrs prior and my family is around there. Plus the rehab hospital had a great rec dep't that kept us busy. Then there was many opportunities to meet and become friends with other patients. When I got to my local hospital, its only 24 beds, and most patients were 20-30 yrs older so no real chance to bond. Plus I had no visitors and no rec dept, it went well for the first 3 weeks as I could go outside and was in phone contact with city friends. I was sent home July 24 only to be readmitted with 2 dislocations on the 29th after an ambulance trip to keep my appt with surgeon in city. Then I was on solid bed rest for 3 weeks. I barely left my room until I was released sept 3. Ive had my fill of TV. I did learn to take pleasure in the simplest things, like fresh berries or extra berries on my tray. Even getting transferred to the window side became a big deal. As the drape was always drawn between the 2 beds so I couldn't see outside. Even having a cather became enjoyable, because I could drink as much as I wanted without getting up 3-4 times a night. The journey has taught me a lot about myself. I found I got rapidly depressed after being readmitted bed bound and isolated, its why they finally released me. I was going down hill rapidly, its so nice to be in my home with internet. Our local hospital doesn't have any for patient use.

So hang in there sit in nature and talk with others! I look forward to reading your updates. Keeping the mind occupied helps a great deal to keep spirits up.

@Rubadub, how are you progressing, it sure has been a marathon for you! I have hope that you are seeing daily gains. It take a strong person to deal with the journey you've been on. I hope you find some bright spots this holiday season. How are the stairs going.

@3rd Dislocation - stairs are a little better - since I only use them on the weekend it will take time! I'm trying to make slow steady progress. This week I will take back part of my barn chores - at least the feeding portion. My husband has been caring for my horses after surgery, so I'm sure he will be happy to relinquish this duty! I sure have missed going to barn every day.

Sounds like major progress! Be sure and watch the lifting and twisting. It can be a bit tricky at first. I'll bet you will enjoy seeing your horses again!

@Jaycey - will definitely be careful! My biggest obstacle will be putting hay in wheelbarrow ad pushing it. Not heavy but awkward.

Let us know how you get on with the barn visits. Were your horses happy to see you?

@Jaycey - took my time gut them fed and turned out. Had Hubble fill wheelbarrow full of hay do I did not have to band over to load it. Used my cane, and was very careful! My horses were happy - I think! I give them a more personal approach! They are both seniors - 21 & 24. They are part of my 4 legged kids!

10+ weeks post op visit with OS - everything looks great!! Still having some muscle weakness, but I've been either in a walker, crutches, or cane for the last 20 months. Hopefully, in time, everything will work cohesively! Merry Christmas to all!

Great update @Rubadub ! Glad you are starting to see progress. Yes, a bit more time may be needed. Have a great holiday season!

Popping in to wish you a very Merry Christmas , and many blessings this season. Great news you're able to do some barn chores! What breed are the horses? I miss mine a lot. They're great for the soul. I hope recovery goes smoother!

@ 3rd Dislocation - Arabs. We owned and shown them for about 20 years. Love em!

12 weeks post op - finally think I'm really healed❗️Stopped using cane last week - except when going to barn to feed. Out of town this week and I have walked quite a bit with no pain! Leg muscles still feel a little weak, but it's been almost 2 years since original fracture. Life is good! Hope to increase daily walks and incorporate some upper body work.

@Rubadub great update! So glad things continue to progress! It can take up time for weakened muscles to heal - just keep moving! :happydance:
