Back from physio. She said shes hopeful she can get it 110. I was 85 and progressed to 95 pushing it. She was very gentle and didnt hurt me a bit. She said a MUA might be the only solution and understands that i would prefer to avoid this and will do her best to get some rom. So onwards with the new exercises and fingers crossed it works :-)

Well i am puzzled i gained to 100 doing the exercise fri-sun. Was so excited to be up at 100 out of bed yesterday. It has now slipped back to 85. This happened weeks ago as well. Had a gain then lost it. Really feel like im fighting a losing battle.

Ok here is my rested and well iced knee at week 13. I have done little this past week as i wanted to see if it got better over the week. Morning measurements 85-90 pretty consistently.painful, irritable, hot. Really not sure if this is normal or not. Can anyone advise?

Also have a bit of depression. My gp mentioned it as soon as i walked in. He said hes never seen me look so down. I have pills he wants me to take for that. Feel very down and alone. This new knee was supposed to be a good thing. Right now it is the worst thing i have ever done. I thought the osteotomy surgery recoveries where bad. This beats them hands down. I have lost my hope and feel im on a roller coaster i cannot get off. Nothing is making any difference. Please tell me this gets better. Right now i need convincing.

Chereb, it WILL get better... You're just in a rough patch right now. I'm sorry to hear how things have been with you. Definitely not been an easy ride for you.
It's such a trauma to our bones, muscles and psyche when we have major surgery like this. I know this isn't your first rodeo... but you'll come thru this, too.

Sending you a big ol' hug from Florida, USA!

Hoping that you were able to get some sleep and that today is at least incrementally better for you :-)

Thank you JackFL. Coming back to Florida in June for a trip. Wish i was there just now :-)

Physio this morning and officially measured 85 degrees again. Exact same as 10 days ago. There is a softness there but she said it is stiff. With a bit of moving it goes to around 95 but after a short time slips back to 85 again. Extremely frustrating. I really dont know what else to try? I have done physio, iced, rested it and nothing makes a difference. I was at parents night for my daughter which involved an hour of sitting and walking around various teachers. It was very painful and swollen afterwards. Surely an hour should be manageable after nearly 14 weeks.
I have to go and see a nurse at hospital tomorrow. Surgical outcomes it is. Will see what they say.

Honey, much as it hurts me to say it, sounds like you need an MUA. It could be associated with the previous surgery, not with anything you've done or not done. Don't see this as a failure or anything, just another step in the process. Of course, I could be wrong!

Well had my post 3month outcome clinic. Nurse didnt quite seem to believe that i was doing active physio every day. Apparently i need to be spending 4 times a day doing various exercise and 2 30min walks daily. She said i should be happy as 90 can get me what i need. I said i disagree and cant go downstairs as it is. I said what about if i stop all physio for a bit. She said absolutely not. Under no circumstances should you stop. The knee xray looks good though so at least thats something off my mind. I really want to avoid an mua if possible. My knee is very sore today with physio pushing it yesterday. So it cant do any anyway. Im going to ice and rest exclusively for the next 10 days at least.

Sounds like a good ten day plan. It won't hurt and it may help.

So, off in a tangent, what kind of things will you be going while you're resting? I could use some new ideas :-)

Well i have a few books piled up on the ipad i could read....lots of music listening as i find that quite relaxing.
Now if i was where you are i would be basking in the glorious sunshine :-) Nice frozen cocktail in my hand :-)

Lol! It's only 9:30 am but I've got a glass of raspberry lemonade while I lay on my bed, icing & elevating, looking out at the sun :-)

I've treated myself to a few things on my Kindle Fire. Scribd, Hulu+ and Netflix.

Oh, and cruising Bonesmart :D

How are you doing since your op Jacki? Its funny how we are all different. I also met someone i was in with the same day. She is doing great.

I've been up and down, par for the proverbial course I guess.

The first two days post op were my worst. Unrealistic expectations, lousy PT person and a CPM machine that I swear was possessed by evil spirits!
Once I got a handle on all three (fired that PT person, refused CPM and figured out what was doable for me) within 24 hours things started to get better.

Three weeks ago today - doesn't seem possible! I am so glad and grateful that I'm on the mend. So many people in this life have such heavier burdens that I hate to complain (but usually do anyway lol)!

Today, I'm feeling good and walking pretty well (with walker). I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I'm reasonably sure that it ain't a train barreling toward me :-)

I miss things like taking a hot soaking tub, just popping up to get a snack when the mood strikes, painted toenails (can't reach but will ask my daughter today) and grocery shopping!

How is your day going so far? What are you looking forward to?

Your doing fabulous. Im just taking it easy not going to stress anymore :-) Ah the first soak is always good. So where in Florida are you? We are the touristy Orlando people lol. Intend to see a lot more though as we are theme parked out. :-)

Lived in Orlando for 12 years then moved to Merritt Island 8 years ago (east coast, near Kennedy Space Center and cocoa beach) and love it here!

Hello @Cherub,

I so know where you at. I had my RTKR on August 2nd and it has been a long road. Like you I have had and continue to have problems with ROM - which is still 90 degrees. I tried so hard to improve this with exercises the physio set and walking but nothing improved it. When I saw my consultant for the 3month appointment he was pleased it was 90 and said that he had only got it to 100 during the op. Although this made me feel better I still longed for more. However, it hasn't happened. After saying that my life is so much better than it was before - in fact I have a life. Before I was unable to drive, in dreadful, constant pain and couldn't even manage to walk around the supermarket. I still worked but only just managed to do that.
I returned to work before Christmas and yes I have found it hard and I have felt very low for the large proportion of this as I have been exhausted but I'm so glad I had this op. I decided that it was no good longing for something that might not happen (better ROM) but to enjoy what I had now and make the most of that. There are things I still can't do like have a bath as I cant bend my leg enough to get in and out and have some difficulty getting down stairs and out of the car but I can do things like go for a walk (not miles!) and drive again which is such a wonderful feeling. I'm so looking forward to having a normal life and enjoying myself as soon as we have some dry weather...
Hope you are feeling better and try not to worry - it is possible to do most things without more ROM (although I would still love it!!!!!!!!)
