Hinged Joint Revision Complete, recovery continues

Glad to hear you're feeling better. Sometimes this process is agonizingly SLOW!!! But you're doing great and you'll get there.

Hi there @Pumpkln
I'll go back and catch up on your thread but didn't want to hold up on sending healing your wishes your way.
Hope you are doing better and better each day!

Thanks @1ELISEA , @71Beetle , for checking in on me.
Today is better. Last evening I did some sitting activities from an functional exercise class I teach (Aston Fitness for Living for Seniors), and had a major release just to the inside of my incision, a narrow long band going up and down along side the incision. Immediately my knee felt better, and I felt like I had more length on the inside of my knee. Walking feels a bit easier, with my weight going through my knee more smoothly.

Hi @Pumpkln, that is so good to hear. Please tell me the sitting activities you doing so I can replicate! It must have given you a bit of a shock before it felt better! So happy to hear that you are walking better.

Hi, @71Beetle, The sitting activities I was doing are complex movement patterns, I modified for myself. When I did them again this morning all the movements were different because I had changed since yesterday. You can look for classes that focuses on functional exercises that mimic the activities we do every day. They often marketed as being classes that exercise you in the ways we actually move.
All is not good, I ODIC walking over the weekend, and while my knee is better the rest of my leg is SORE. My PT was out sick today, so I have an appointment with my massage therapist tomorrow.
I have an OS appointment on Wednesday, and would like to be walking OK.

I get the Bonehead award today, the above post was written this morning, :doh:forgot to click on post reply :umm:.
I have found a new use for my ice machine, spread the pads out nicely on the bed, positioned my sore spots right on top of the pads, nicely icing those sore areas.

Sounds like a good use for the ice machine. Is it the Cyro Cuff that you use?
Likely a good thing that your PT was off today so you could rest more. Enjoy your massage tomorrow.
I see my OS on Wednesday as well. We can compare notes after our appointments.

Is there a web site I could check out for the exercises that you do?

@71Beetle ,
I use the Breg maching, I have the large knee cuff, so it is covering a large area of my back right now. I will put it on my knee for most of the night. I purchased some remote control switches at Costco around Christmas so I can turn it off without having to unplug the machine.
AstonKinetics.com for general information about the paradigm. There are some exercises on YouTube.
I need to remember to take a list of questions in this time, I do not have a lot of questions, but will forget them without a list.
Hoping our follow ups go well!

Glad to hear you're doing well, @Pumpkln. Let me know what the OS says. Have you been able to get back in the pool at all, or has it been too chilly? I want to hit the pool and hot tub; soon I hope, as I have to rejoin the club but really don't want to just for their pool. But I may anyway....we'll see. I'm glad you're able to take less pain medication, that's a good sign. I take Motrin in the daytime, but have been taking one Tramadol pill before bed to help me sleep through the pain that hits with movement and strange positions with my knee as I sleep...Anyway, take care and let me know how it goes. Kim

When I first get up, I feel pretty good, after a few steps the muscles on the outside of my leg go into spasm, from the ankle to my low back :tantrum2:.
I have grabbed my walker to use in the house, it is easier to use than the cruches, mostly because it stays where you put it. Hoping my massage therapist can figure out what I am doing to cause this. If not I see the OS tomorrow, and see what he says.
@lovetocookandsew , it has been too cool to swim, I am re thinking walking up the hill to the pool, as that is the one thing I have done differently with walking. I was only in the pool for a few minutes, so don't think that is a major contributor to the spasms.
Right now I have the ice machine re configured to go up and down the outside of the leg, glad I purchased the larger knee pad.

@Pumpkln I can't believe I've been tagging you wrong all of this time....sorry about that! How are you? Did you swim? Like really swim? I need a new swimming suit. Like @71Beetle was saying. The thought!
And it will require some on line retail and fit and all of that....lands end is a possibility. Or title nine maybe. Did your IT Band settle a little more?

@hopefaith ,
I wear a tank by Ocean, expensive, but they last, in the long run are a better buy. Nope did not swim the water temp was 80 degrees :ice:. I headed straight to the hot tub!:bath:
Knee settling down, weather calming down tomorrow, hope to feel better.
I think the hill to the pool stresses my leg too much, it is pretty steep. Going to have to figure a better way to get up it, most likely slowing down will help.

My knee loosened up a bit, tight band was still there. It felt good to soak, more like a warm bath.
The cold water tightened it up it a bit.
The pool is supposed to be between 87 to 90 degrees, I won't go in until the tempersture is higher.

Sounds like you are doing great - I hope the OS is happy with your progress tomorrow (I haven't dreamt that have I? You do have an appointment tomorrow don't you?)x

Shortie x

I haven't dreamt that have I? You do have an appointment tomorrow don't you?
I do have an appointment tomorrow afternoon.
We will see what he has to say, my knee feels unstable, feels like the joint opens up on the outside.
ROM is fine so that is good.
