Coldstone has the best ice cream, but I never get the mix-ins as they totally smoosh them to nothing when they mix them. If I do have a mix-in coming, I just get it on the side and chop it into larger pieces, then sprinkle it over my dish. But I usually just buy the pre-packed cake batter ice cream as it has chunks of cookie dough and brownies, and they are still chunks, plus there are more added than what you get in the store. Then I make a cone, one scoop at a time only, making the container last a looooooong time. Hubby eats his in 2 or 3 sittings, then tries to play the "72 hour game". He says any ice cream in the freezer older than that is fair game....nice try but he's a goner if he eats my treat-I only get it once or twice a year after all.........lol. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area; my parents had a cabin in Tahoe for many of my growing up years, and the other years we went to Tahoe a lot and rented cabins or stayed at the hotels. It's a beautiful place. I still go there often as it's one of my favorite places. Too bad it's not really a great place for bike riding. There are some areas to ride, such as Camp Richardson, but you have to cart your bikes there. If you stay near the main areas, it's really hard to ride bikes. We love to park our car for the duration on trips and ride as much as possible, but downtown Tahoe isn't a great biking area. They say they are, but we've tried, and between the traffic and all the pedestrians, it's not really a good idea. I also love to go out on the lake in one of the yachts owned by one of the casino properties. You get a small group of people, as opposed to the large tourist boats, and they feed you a nice meal besides. I wish I were able to hike down to Vikingsholm, but that is one thing I'll likely never do, even with my new knee. I can't see ever hiking that steep trail from the parking lot, and since I don't have my own boat, I may never get to go there.
