TKR Resistance is Futile

@ Cell- Great information thank you. My preferred treatment is diet and herbs

WOW 3 hole hours of continuous sleep.
@ highlander- used to hunt for food now just for pics. Haven't been able to trudge the hills.

Another cool thing my extension is almost 0. Haven't seen that for almost 2 years.

@ highlander- I took these series of shots from the trail head parking at Chatfield State Park 2 falls ago.

Are you a beef or dairy?

I hear ya. I spent a lot of time backpack bowhunting just north of Steamboat Springs over the years. Right between Mt Zirkle Wilderness area and Rabbits Ears Pass. I learned all that country really well. And we would backpack in about 5 miles, set up a spike camp, and then hunt about a 20,000 acre area in there. God, I loved that adventure. I cant wait to do it again when I get my knee totally rehabbed. Whether we killed an elk or not didn't matter, just the beauty, solitude, and fellowship were reward enough.

We are a beef operation- strictly heritage breeds (Galloway cattle, Katahdin sheep, old spot pigs) and 100% organic grass-fed. Heres a shot of a few

of our herd in one of our mountain pastures.

You hit a spot in me. I know the country well Shipman Park, Rawah was my playground even off season. Worked on Snorgrass ranch outside of Walden couple seasons as a kid. Would spend couple weeks a summer just living in the wilderness.

Galloway , aren't they akin to highland longhair. Organic/ grass fed the sweetest, leanest meat there is.

I post some pics of the Chatfield herd when I breakout the lap top.

Sounds like you're managing ok, @mg5457 . Sleep when you can and keep on using the ice machine as you have been.

@kneeper- "Sleep when you can". How true. I was excited when I noticed I slept for 3 straight hours this morning.

Been sitting on a Saturday doing nothing(so my pride tells me) but watching the tube, icing and realized I haven't had to take a nap for 4 hours.

Amazing what tiny progress does to ones outlook.

I really appreciate this forum and everyone's posts.

Try not to think of resting as "lying around, doing nothing." Instead, think of it as working hard, to give your knee the best possible chance of healing well.

@ Celle - I am beginning to understand. This is exhausting. Just the jaunts to the porcelain throne and / table for meals is like doing a triathlon. As I think through and tune in to my body I see that it running a triathlon, marathon and riding the Tour de France.

mg5457 - Well put, my friend! My RTKR won't be about 5-1/2 or six months after my LTKR. I'm okay with that since the length and difficulties of this healing process has really taken me by surprise!!

@Knees4Me- How are getting along with your right?

I really wish my os could have done bilateral. Still trying to decide which side hurts worse. Only difference is right side muscle doesn't need repair.

@mg5457 - welcome! I wonder for your pain, if your OS can prescribe a transdermal lidocaine 5% patch... would that be ok to use with sobriety?

@mg5457 - My right (unoperated) knee has been doing surprisingly well in its "supporting" role while my left knee has been having surgery and recovering. Doing the prescribed pre-op exercises twice daily really helped. They weren't nearly as painful as the post-op ones I have to do now. I hope my right knee can keep up the pace until my surgeon gives the green light for RTKR, likely mid - June or later. The right one is also bone-on-bone and hasn't felt as bad, but it definitely needs to be replaced! My Dad had both of his arthritic knees "done" at one time, but he was lucky to have gone to stay at a veteran's rehab facility afterwards. He was motivated to get back to driving and amateur ballroom dancing with my Mom (who doesn't drive.) hang in there! I'm learning that this recovery process is a long and sometimes painful one. I certainly hope it'll prove to be worth it. But when?!

@UACats70 - Good idea. I am sending him an email when done here.

ROUGH morning. Had consistent 2 hr sleep sessions. Woken up with familiar pain new location. Been 1.5 hr ago n can't find comfortable position.

Wondering if severe bruise from the pressure cuff use to stop blood flow, in groin area is impeding blood flow. It is swollen. I have sent pick an message to OS.
