Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope all is well. With any luck the small misstep you took on the stairs the other day hasn't caused you any ongoing discomfort.
I hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

So nice you are done with those torture stockings...:tada:
Have an emancipated weekend, @phillau43 :) :-) (:

Good morning from a sunny UK. I’ve not checked in for a while but 1 month and 2 days post op and things seem to be going well. I’ve peaked at just over 9000 steps on my most active day but consistently doing 7-8k a day, which ironically is way more than I was doing before the hip became a problem! I found myself ‘sans crutch’ much of the day yesterday and only used it when I went out of the house for a couple of trips. I have an event on today which I must attend, which includes a parade that I am taking part in from Warwick Castle to St. Mary’s Church. It’s a shortish walk on a gentle up hill slope but I think I may use the crutch, (although my pride may make me try without!). I’ve cut down on pain meds so only taking 2x paracetamol morning and night and sleeping has improved but still not great - oh I long for the return of 7 hours. Anyway, I’m pleased with progress and hope to return to work, part time initially, in 10 days.

That's an early return to work. I hope you can phase in slowly.
I had always hoped to return after 6 weeks and thought I’d just go back full time as before. I’ve realised that was naive and a more phased approach will be necessary. Today’s events have surprisingly tired me out which has taught me a lesson. I was driven the 50 minute journey to Warwick, arrived 20 minutes pre-lunch so socialised with others first, then up several steps to a 3 course lunch on round tables of 10, with uncomfortable chairs. Following lunch a further 20 minutes hanging around whilst procession was organised; parade up to church took 9 minutes then into church and more uncomfortable seating. Usual up and down during the service for hymns etc then hanging around after the service before joining a few others for a post-service pint in the Zetland Arms, Warwick. Another 50 minute drive home, got changed and put my kit away. Frankly I’m knac*!rd...
Probably qualifies me for the ODIC I’m guessing?

Up early for my 7:45am appointment for my 6 weeks (to the day!) follow up with my surgeon. Everything seems to be okay, albeit yesterday was a relatively poor day as I felt uncommonly tired. I did rather over do it on Sunday though so only myself to blame. Hoping to drive to work after the follow up appointment and do a few hours.

All the best for an excellent report...and some reassuring xrays, I'm guessing. That was the best part for me.
Regaining our stamina can be a bit of a struggle, but certainly not uncommon at only 6 weeks out so..
Stay the course! It keeps getting better!

All good thanks @Mojo333 . Surgeon happy and wants to see me again at 6 months and 12 months (I suspect he’s got a holiday to pay for!!) Went back to work as planned and did half a day in the office, no appointments though so fairly easy. Still, I came home and fell asleep for 2 hours! Energy drain I suspect. Going back on Thursday to do another half day and already have a couple of appointments so will be more of a true test.

A day off today after 2 full and busy days at work and with events to attend on both evenings. Amazing to think the op was only 8 weeks ago. Not feeling too tired considering, although the hip has a little ache. Life is definitely returning to normal. 3 busy days ahead before time out on Sunday.

Great update!
Inspiring to all those following in your footsteps!:happydance:
Glad to know you are doing so well @phillau43
The stamina part can take a bit.
Still have healing happening.

 Happy Two Month Anniversary!
Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
Sounds like you've been busy this week. It's good to hear life is returning to normal.
Wishing you a fantastic Summer! :)

10 weeks post-op today and I’d give myself an 8.5/10 for my return to normality and towards the glory of the ‘forgotten hip’. Still get the numb thigh, particularly when I’ve done too much generally. I’ve averaged around 9k steps a day over the last 14 days with a few peak days of 18-19k (but I’m not sure I believe the Fitbit). Still can’t quite go up stairs with alternate steps without bannister support for the operated leg as it feels ‘weak’, although coming down stairs is okay. I’ve been back working full-time for a fortnight and driving normally, around 50 miles a day. Gardening at the weekend included lawn cutting and conifer trimming up a ladder (much to Mrs H’s annoyance). At night I can’t lie on my operated side for very long as the hip starts to ache and I find the pillow between the legs more comfortable when lying on the unoperated side. Averaging 6.5-7 hours of restful sleep a night though, so much better than the sleep deprivation immediately post op. So, all in all, feeling pretty good as I am still only 10 weeks out.

Sounds like you're doing well and returning to normal, that is awesome!

All the lingering issues also found normal for this stage.
You have done very well.
Do be careful with that trimming.
Biggest rule for new hippys is No Falling!:bignono:
No wonder the Mrs is anxious.

Thanks for the update my hippy friend.
Onward and upward:ok:

Approaching 13 weeks and still only give myself 8.5/10 - I think I was expecting more! Walking our dog yesterday we were invited in to a neighbours who run a small holding, to admire their onions..... genuinely no euphemism!
I had the dog on an extendable lead and he spotted one of the chickens and he decided to suddenly make friends! The result was a sharp jolt against the operated hip and an unexpected yelp from the lead-holder. Just as I thought I was getting better......

I hope you're okay after getting jolted.
Don't forget about your old friend ice :ice: for any discomfort you're dealing with.

Invited to a neighbors to admire their onions?! Was it a fun filled event on a Saturday evening?

8.5/10 is great for 13 weeks post op. Full recovery takes up to a year, even longer for some.

Now, about the onions :chinstroke:
