This paragraph says a lot. I wouldn't waste any more time with this surgeon, nor trying to figure him out. Take the advice you received from, Jamie, and let us know what you hear on Monday. Good Luck...we're here for you!I'm just so confused the doctor that did this said it was okay to walk with a cane and sometimes without if I'm able to? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do I don't want to damage it any more but sometimes I can take a few steps in my home without the cane. I don't understand why my surgeon has to talk with specialists and won't see me until July 17th and is not giving me any help until then.
United StatesYes I plan on doing that I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do until then cuz I'm continuing to walk with a cane I don't know if I should stop or what. I'm so afraid of hurting myself anymore than what they did to me. Thank you for your response. I hope you have a blessed day. This paragraph says a lot. No, please don't stop using the cane, but continue in an effort to lighten the load for your left leg.I'm continuing to walk with a cane I don't know if I should stop or what.

United StatesFriday okay thank you so much. I just know in the last couple weeks the pain is progressively getting worse. I just don't understand why my surgeon is putting my visit off to discuss where to go from here till July 17th? Monday morning I am calling Dr. Krebs office. Someone on here did some research for me to find specialists for my problem. I'm just unsure what went wrong they said it wasn't anything I did and was talking about putting a smaller implant in so I'm wondering if they put too large of a implant in. I have been begging since January for an MRI and that's how they found this is they finally gave it to me after many X-rays and many CT scans that showed nothing was wrong but the MRI showed up different. Showed that None of my bone connected to the stem. The stem is not connected to anything in the top part. I don't even know what material was used for my implant or what type of incision was done I've never received any answers every time I ask. He also came out when my mother daughter and son was waiting and told them they ran into complications and then when I asked what the complications were he tells me it doesn't matter because everything is okay. That's before the MRI showed differently. I just thought that's not very professional at all and I would like to know what type of surgery I had if it was anterior or posterior and what type of metals were used for my body. Is it wrong for me to want to know those things? Is that normal? No, please don't stop using the cane, but continue in an effort to lighten the load for your left leg.I'm continuing to walk with a cane I don't know if I should stop or what.
United StatesYes thank you. I donated mine and everything I got for the surgery now I will have to replace everything but My Mother has a walker she's going to let me use so hopefully that won't keep from any more damage happening. All of you folks on here have helped me so much and I know I sound like a broken record by thanking you all but as I said I've gotten more answers here than I have from my own surgeon that I trusted my life with. I just wish I never had this surgery done.Do you have a walker? That might lighten the load for now until you can see specialist.
And from what you are saying here about doctor who did your original surgery, I wouldn't worry myself about what he told you to do or not do.
I had small fracture even after my surgery found at my 6 week X-Ray, I was told to stay on walker for next 4 weeks & do light weight bearing. A walker will help you immensely to keep weight off that surgical leg.
Hope this helps!
But whatever keep using cane at least.

Consider calling the office of your OS in the morning and politely ask for copies of all of your surgery records and office call notes for your personal records. They may need a signature from you, and then will likely forward copies in the mail. It should be enlightening for you...hopefully.I don't even know what material was used for my implant or what type of incision was done I've never received any answers every time I ask. United StatesI just picked up a walker today from my Mother and contacting a specialist tomorrow.@CherokeeGem
Your surgeon needs to consult with specialists because he honestly doesn't know what to do for you. There's no point in focusing on "why" or the fairness.
This is why we advise you to contact the revision specialists directly. It would be best to find one to take over your care.
@Jamie is right: regardless of what your surgeon told you, it would be prudent to use a walker if you have one or can borrow one.
United StatesThank you so much I will let you know how things go I screenshoted your comment so I can make sure I get all the info I need. I've always been very passive and the people here has made me feel stronger to be able to speak for myself.I’m glad your BoneSmart family could pick up the slack and give you information and the support you need right now. That’s what we’re here for. The fact that your surgeon won’t discuss whatever “complications” he ran into during surgery says a lot to me. He is not someone you can trust and believe in at this point. It will be important for you to get copies of all your medical records….surgery notes, imaging, and clinical notes of your office visits.
If you have difficulty getting an appointment with a new revision surgeon when you call tomorrow, don’t hesitate to contact the Patient Advocacy Office at Cleveland Clinic. You can contact an ombudsman (advocate) there Monday thru Friday by phone at 216-444-2544. Before you call, make a written list of the problems you’ve had…sort of what you’ve detailed to us here in this thread. It will help you to write out a chronology of events with dates, names of people you talked to, and what was discussed. I know this is a lot of work, but it’s important. People really listen when you have this type of chronological record of how you’ve been treated. This will better enable the ombudsman to help you get prompt action. This office also has an email address, if you need to send them this chronology: ombudsman@ccf.org
Cleveland Clinic is a very reputable hospital and business organization. They WANT their patients to have a good experience, which you did not have. You have every right to pursue a quick resolution to the problems and miscommunications you’ve experienced. You have the right to know all the details of your surgery and it was wrong of the doctor not to explain things in a way you could understand when you asked. Be strong, but courteous (that’s what assertiveness is all about), and I think you’ll begin to see some action to help you.
Let us know how it goes. We’re always here for you.

United StatesI just hung up with the surgeon who did my hip replacement and now he's at a guessing game I am not going to let him touch me again I'm still waiting to hear back about getting a referral to a different specialist anyhow he wants to go in and drain my hip in case there's any fluid in there and check it to see if there might be possibly an infection and then he wants me to get a temporary hip replacement for 6 weeks if there is an infection and then have the hip implant done again. If there's not any infection he wants me to stay off my operative leg for 6 weeks to see if the bone will then grow to the stem. It was a video visit and to me he just seemed totally lost like he was now at a guessing game and didn't know what to do. I will be seeing a hip revision specialist I will not let this surgeon put his hands inside my body again. I will stand firm with myself now and demand the help that I need. I'm glad to hear that you got the help for your Son. This group or forum has given me the courage that I need. Thank you.@CherokeeGem Another thought - do you have a family member or good friend who could go to appointments with you? Someone who will back you up and be a witness for what is said. If you do have such a person available, bring them into the exam room or office with you. Also make a written list of your questions and concerns before any/all visits and go through them with the surgeon.
I once had to stand in front of the exam room door with arms crossed and refuse to get out of the way until my son got the treatment he needed. Twas the 3rd pediatrician to see son and not take his hearing loss from inflamed adenoids and tonsils seriously. Poor 3rd Doc got a bit of verbal blast from me ... fortunately for him (he was very new to my HMO) his nurse came in and knew exactly what to do and how to do it.
