Revised PKR to TKR Patellofemoral PKR with Ehlers Danlos hypermobility

The one you posted has too many inappropriate options. You always want you feet to continue on a bit higher.

The Lounge Doctor is good, and I have this one and it’s very nice. It doesn’t look like the feet continue up but in the other pictures they do.

Thank you, Jockette! Next question-would
a stack of pillows work just as well? Am on tight budget but willing to buy if it is very handy.

Yes, a stack of pillows will theoretically work just as well, but they can be a hassle to get right and stay put, in my opinion (I’m not a patient person)

I was blessed in that my hospital sent an elevating wedge home with me. It doesn’t look anything like the ones we show, but it has worked very well, and 7 years later, I’m still using it every night (on my drama Queen PKR!) So, whatever they charged my insurance company, or me, for it, it has been “priceless!”

Here‘s the one from the hospital. It’s only for one leg, but I’ve been putting both legs on it for quite a while now, I just did one leg in the beginning. It is wearing out, from putting both legs on it, which is why I bought the one from Amazon. It doesn’t look like it, but it does allow for a slight bend, which is very important, you don’t need your leg totally straight like they often tell us. love it, and I also love the new one.

What a deal! Thanks so much for taking the time to share all the details-very helpful. I ordered the one you recommended. After all, will have my left knee done after the right, and then a big toe fusion and surgery to repair a dislocated toe. I see a lot of elevating ahead!

I really like the new one, it looks much nicer than my ugly gray original one, has a nice washable cover, and is easy to lay another cover over it, if wanted. I even made a travel bag to put it in. I spent time in a hotel a while back and there was no way I was carrying that gray one in, and the shape of that one is a bit odd for a bag. I’m very happy with both of them.

I think you should create your own line of products!
I did that once, I made kitty quilts. The cats loved them and I sold over a hundred! :heehee: I had a website, I also made canine cuddlers, quilts to sit on while sitting in a wheelchair, and purses, (I still make my own purses.) I had a few stores who sold my kitty quilts but that fizzled out because they are pretty much not “buy, use up, and buy again.“ It was fun, though, while it lasted.

The first photo is my cat and my (our) first kitty quilt.

Wow! My pup would have loved the cuddlers.:) He claims any soft blanket I bring home.❤️

Were you surprised how small the package was when it arrived ? I was! But then it opened up so nicely. Yes, it’s a lovely elevating wedge.

Best Wishes tomorrow, Mochapup!
Will be watching for your first post op update.
Thank you! It went well. Checked in at 6am and just got home. The surgeon told my Dad he was able to fix the maltracking problem They are so nice at the surgery center-had manyof the same team who did the partial replacement-then 3 medical Reps from the two different medical device companies whose products he was “combining.”
A regular party in the OR, though I was
unconscious for the festivities.
I am feeling some strong throbbing though am taking the meds as prescribed. Also got s spinal block plus abductior block plus General anesthesia. Am feeling loopy too!

I bet you're loopy with that still on board!
Glad you're safely back at home.

Hello and Happy Wednesday Mochapup,
Glad to read you're home! I hope you were able to get some sleep on your first night back.
Hopefully the meds relieve the pain enough for you to be comfortably mobile.

I won't waste space here by leaving another set of Recovery Guidelines. Please refer to the Recovery Guidelines on the first page of your thread for a refresher, if you feel the need. I think you know the drill.
Wishing you lots of comfort and all the best in your recovery!
@Mochapup

Hi, Mochapup….welcome to recovery. It sounds like things went very well. Now it’s on to the healing phase. Be sure to allow yourself some time to just rest, ice, elevate, and begin getting things back to normal again.

Thank you! Today has been fairly ghastly pain-wise but am doing what I can. Is it a ar for the course though to have so much pain it’s hard to focus on anything else. Near-.writhing stage.

If this is still happening, call your doctor. They should be able to change your medication to something that will help you better.

I’m sorry you’re in so much pain. :console2:

Be sure you are icing your knee as much as possible. Put a towel on your knee to prevent freezer burn and keep the ice on as you elevate your leg. That, plus taking something for the pain on a set schedule should help. But, if it doesn’t, do call your doctor and see if your pain meds can be increased for a while until you get through the first week or so.

Day 4 PO: managed to get the pain to a more humane level and have eliminated the nausea-ugh! That may have been from
constipation or the meds, but it made
everything much worse. Nothing like traipsing to the toilet all night long in a walker. The barhroom is just steps away from bed, but really!
