Revised PKR to TKR Patellofemoral PKR with Ehlers Danlos hypermobility

Glad you're feeling encouraged, Mochapup. Let us know once you have surgery scheduled.
We'll be your loudest cheerleaders. :wink:
@Mochapup

Well, I think you are very justified to feel encouraged. I feel encouraged for you too!!

When are you thinking you will have your TKR?

This is promising news. I’m so happy you were able to find a surgeon to address your problems and offer a recommendation.

I am very curious about whether the replacement will not retain the cruciates -as a way to address hyper mobility…

Just saw the surgeon-should be able to have the conversion TKA within 6 weeks. He is even going to schedule it so it’s his only case of the day due to the complexity. he is using something called a medial pivot implant to address my connective tissue laxity and hyperextensuin etc.

Do you know if the Zimmer medial-pivot is cruciale retaining? Forgot to ask!

It appears there are several configurations of this particular implant. Your best bet is to ask your surgeon what he plans for you.

This is a very good sign. Hang on to those comments when you start to get a little worried. When a surgeon goes into a case he knows is going to be a little more complex than the normal, a good one will be very prepared and will take things slow to be sure things go as well as possible to give you success. This is where experience of the surgeon counts.

Question: How hard is it to get simple sleeping shorts and sweating and off after surgery? Tips?

I had no problem with elastic waist rayon or drapy fabric shorts or wide legged pants. I pretty much lived in bamboo knit pjs for weeks.

How? Easy peasy: Use your good leg/foot to lift your butt about an inch and quickly slide the garment onto or off your pelvis.
Was it a problem after you partial?

Recovery from your TKR should be very similar to what you experienced with your partial knee replacement. For comfort, I bought a couple of pairs of inexpensive elastic waist gym shorts in a size larger than normal for both my knee surgeries. They worked really well and were loose enough that they were very comfortable to wear and sleep in.

RTKR Tuesday! Am thinking of buying myself a recovery gift-a pillow! Does this one look appropriate for elevation?
