Revised PKR to TKR Patellofemoral PKR with Ehlers Danlos hypermobility

@pmoskie .... I'm confused when you say you have lost your "profile." Exactly what is missing? You have your original username and posts from 2019 on the forum.

Since last post, have visited my surgeon as well as another surgeon that he wanted me to see because of his expertise in ligament reconstruction. The thought was that I may need an MPFL reconstruction to correct the patellar maltracking. The referral surgeon isn’t sure that will do the trick and is going to do further research and discuss it more with my original surgeon. I really appreciate their thoroughness. In the meantime, my knee is so sore.

Thank you for the update!
I'm sorry you're still uncomfortable, but relieved these surgeons are taking time to get a consensus on best next steps!!!!

This sounds very promising. Thanks for letting us know how things are going.

I am sorry you're struggling. Hopefully soon there will be a plan leading to resolution of the pain.
It's two months to date since your surgery and I wish it was a happier anniversary day for you.
Hugs and best wishes! Please keep us posted.

Still waiting for the surgeons to decide on a plan. In the meantime, the knee is ever more sore when I flex between about 90-110 degeees. New bruising too, and am not sure why.

I have some maltracking as well. Mine doesn't hurt at all. Surgeon said it should improve as swelling goes down and quad strength increases. Fortunately, I do see improvement just like the surgeon said. Also said it's common in PF PKR.
However, you have pain and unexplained bruising. That sounds like it needs checked out. Hope you can get some answers soon.

Don’t hesitate to call your surgeon’s office if you’re not hearing from him. Sometimes it’s the old “squeaky wheel gets the grease” story with these busy doctors.

Woke up this
Morning and knee is so swollen I can’t bend or put weight on it. Feels like it could explode. Am “9n hold” with the emergency’ service. Oh irony, but wonder what this could be. May have to call ambulance for first
Time in my life as I can’t see going up my driveway.

I’m so sorry you’re in so much pain. :console2: I would ask for bloodwork to be sure it’s not an infection. I’m not saying that’s what you have, but it would be good to rule it out.

New bruising too, and am not sure why.
You wrote this about a week ago. How is the bruising now? Definitely ask about this, as it seems late in your recovery for new bruising to appear.

Jockette is right. If you’ve continued to have new bruising, it could indicate you have an internal bleed. Be sure you go to an ER at the hospital where your surgeon practices so your chances are better to get to see him for an evaluation. Ask to have him called in if possible. Even better would be an ER service at an orthopedic hospital if there is one near you.

Update: surgeon drained more than a cup of blood from knee-he sent it off to check for infection though he thinks it unlikely. Also took xrays and the implants are perfect. Assuming no infection shows up, next week will have a scope to see what tore and is causing the blood.

Eek.
Well at least you've ruled out the possibility he's a vampire....
I'm sorry you need a scoping, but look forward to you getting some answers!
