The doctor called yesterday I'm all done with aspirin and Prilosec and best of all. The ted socks! I'm ready to have a bon fire and burn them in celebration! Lol
On a side note, the past couple of days I have been having tenderness in the pelvis area. Also when I stretch my legs there is a popping noise. Should I be worried? Is this normal healing? It's been 6 weeks since surgery and still have 22 days until my post op appointment
Yay for Ted sock bonfires, hateful things they are.....but necessary.
Since you have concerns and still have three weeks until your next appt - let's ask @Josephine to weigh in. She's the resident expert on all that ails us.
Check back in because she may have some questions for you
Try not to worry as all may fall into the realm of normal.... @lexi
I would say l2f and l3f (v). The popping has only happened a couple of times and only has happened when I have stretched my whole body out in bed. The soreness happens off and on, it is not constant. @Josephine
@lexi Did you miss this in post #11, in the recovery articles?
Hips actually don't need any exercise to get better. They do a pretty good job of it all on their own if given half a chance. Trouble is, people don't give them a chance and end up with all sorts of aches and pains and sore spots. All they need is the best therapy which is walking and even then not to excess.
In other words, I suspect that your pain is induced by those exercises. Stop them and after a time, your pain will abate.
I thought that was what she would say @lexi. I tried doing those exercises early on and did a couple of weeks of physical therapy and found I did end up feeling better when I just worked on walking. I don't know if it is just me, be within last few weeks I have squatted to get things off lower level at store shelf etc. like normal. When they say recovery can take a year or so, it can be true. Of course, I have quite a few years on you, so I doubt you will take as long as me. I think if you rest as Josephine suggests, and walk, you will find great improvement by the New Year.
I had my post op yesterday, everything looks great! I get a cane for the next month. I get to go back to work in two weeks. Best of all I met with an obgyn doctor to talk about getting pregnant. Anyone have had a baby with a hip replacement or know someone that has. I would really like advice, nothing is too small. Next up is to buy prenatal vitamins!!!! YAY!!!!!
Yahoo @lexi
Wonderful news on the post op!
How sweet to read you are contemplating pregnancy. So very exciting!
While I can't offer medical advice regarding pregnancy / delivery with hip replacement,
possibly someone within the forum has experienced it. That ship has already sailed for me,
I'm thankfully blessed with children and now even grandchildren.
Warm wishes as you continue to recover and best of luck in your pregnancy efforts!
Also wishing you a very :merry christmas: and a happy, healthy 2018!
This week I went back to work! I am excited to be working again, and it's not going to be easy, but I can do it. I am a toddler teacher, while it's strenuous, but rewarding and I love all my work children.
Great practice too cuz we know what you're up to.....wink, wink! You shared....
Hope you're enjoying your time back, take it slow and easy if you're able.
Ice and elevate at night if you overdo.
Best of luck on easing back in! @lexi
Hi I have just read this thread as I too was diagnosed with protrusio acetabuli at 53 and OA in both hips. Am 13 days post op of RTHR and will probably have the list one fine quite quickly. My question to you my lovely is the length of time before you went back to work? I was hoping to go back after 6 weeks but am now a bit worried it may be longer due to it not being a standard op?
