Hi all ............. just back from physio. My physio is jumping up and down with excitement ........... an easy, really easy 110 degrees as soon as I got on the couch! Still don't trust the darn thing and still have to go easy, but that's my best land measurement ever. At 6 weeks my OS said that 120 degrees would be a great outcome for my knee, and to aim for that. Having gone from hero to zero and then having clawed my way back again slowly, my physio and I are over the moon. Two weeks until my Xray and OS 14 week consult ....... wonder if I can put a few more degrees on, to get even nearer to that 120 degree goal by then? Fingers, eyes, ears and everything else crossed that all remains fine. This knee will have to put in high levels of good behaviour so that I learn to trust and believe in it again, but at the moment it is trying hard.

Ha ha @Ellejay - yes I think you are right about my physio being like family. I know all about her nan and granddad, where she went to Uni, how she nearly took up a job in Abu Dhabi ......... She is a sweetie. When I first had this setback she said that although she would be working my knee with exercises and massage, she was so sorry for me all she really wanted to do was give me a great big hug - I liked her instantly!
Sorry you wont get a quick fix for your other knee, will post on your thread in a bit.

Congrats on your ROM!!! You have done extremely well and were very patient in getting there. I am very happy for you!

RTKR - 9th December, 2013

Hi @Nana moon 27 @Ellejay and everyone else. Never fear ...... I am here!

Didn't get off to sleep until very late last night. I had the window open a bit and a group of teenagers or some such were having a bit of a get together outside, somewhere nearby. Typical young people type sounds - loud talking, laughing and the odd squeal. I have a hunch they had congregated in the big gardens/garage area behind some mansion flats that are nearby - I have heard the same noises once or twice before. It may have been an end of exam celebration?? Anyways, by 1am all was quiet and I was soon asleep. Up early this morning to get myself up, showered and a few exercises before going to the hairdressers. Husband kindly dropped me off. Not my usual place, but where my daughter goes. I was in there for over 4 hours - which is why no posts from me this morning. I managed a quick post to wish Doglover well in her new home while I was eating breakfast and then I had to go.
Really pleased, stuck in the chair for a full head of highlights and a much-needed restyle and blow dry - but apart from being a little bit stiff when getting up, all has been fine and knee has behaved impeccably. Good hair result I am pleased with what has been done and the cost (inc a bottle of shampoo) was less than half I usually pay. Suffice to say I have rebooked!

Hope you are taking it easy today NM27 after a busy day yesterday. I'm glad you had a lovely meal and hope that you and hubby enjoyed your special day. Hope your other knee is behaving a bit better @Ellejay and that you enjoy your trip to Lincolnshire. It's lovely that you have made that cross Channel booking ......... France here you come!

My husband is off for 10days tomorrow - his usual weekly club racing both weekends, with a trip to Brittany helping a friend move his boat, sandwiched in the middle. As it is his birthday on Friday (the day they leave) our daughter is coming round for supper this evening to give him his pressies. I've got to go and do some wrapping in a bit.

With him going away I am glad that I am driving again. I will be taking myself to physio next week and am planning a couple of quick shopping trips - short distances and where I can park very nearby - while he is not here. Hurrah!
Currently I am full of the joys of Spring - what a difference a knee that is beginning to be a bit more normal, a haircut and a bit of clever grey disguising and blonde dye can do!

A great hair style is invigorating! Terrific that your knee cooperated for such a long time.

10 days on your own must be a bit exciting after being constantly together for weeks on end! RE the car - in the US we would be given handicap passes so that you need not worry about walking too far, do they not have those in London?

Hi @TexasTee - you are right - its amazing how much a trip to the hairdressers can pep you up. It was so lovely to be pampered after so many months and not just manage a quick hairwash in the shower and a whizz with the hairdryer! Now I know I can cope with that .... next stop mani-pedi and a facial!

Sadly in the UK 'disabled parking passes' are literally like gold dust. Despite a catalogue of mobility problems they took my Mums away until we fought back and had it reinstated. The rules state:
You will generally only be able to get a blue badge if you can walk only with great difficulty, and at an extremely slow pace or with excessive pain. No other factors, such as how difficult you find it to carry objects, will be taken into account.
Your difficulties must be permanent and not temporary. For example, if you have a broken leg, you can’t apply for a blue badge

I will manage fine - no probs (as long as I don't buy too much!)

wow - I had no idea that the handicap rules were so strict! I'm sure they might be here for a permanent one for your license plate but the temporary pass all that you need is a note from your doctor that you can’t walk without assistance from a cane/crutch for a certain period of time.

As you said, you will be fine but that would certainly make it more convenient. I, personally, like to see people using them, we require a ton of them in our parking lots and I’d rather someone used them then have them be empty and I have to park further for no reason! On a good knee day, I park at the back for more exercise but on a bad day all of those empty spots just mean I’m walking that much further.

At lest you have a good cause - Retail therapy – the best there is!

I'm ever so glad you got to get your hair done. I bet you are feeling amazing x I'm so pleased for you x are you going to post a pic? (Cheeky Nana moon)! Xxx

The blue badge system is an absolute joke here. So many fiddle it but how? I've seen the firms they're very hard to complete. Xxxx it's disgusting they took your moms away and you had to fight this asinine system we have xxx

Ha ha @Nana moon 27 - I suppose I could always borrow Mums blue parking badge. On a bad day I could easily pass for an 85 year old!!!!!

Sorry your sleep was interrupted. I always think of Horace Rumpole living at the Froxbury Mansions when I see that term. :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your hair do, it does cheer us up doesn't it. Golly, 10 days on your own, how lovely! I expect your daughter and Gilbert will be around for you, but to be able to eat whatever and whenever you want, to watch any TV programme or DVD you choose, that sounds wonderful (not to mention not having to rush to the wardrobe to hide any new purchases the minute you arrive home).

@dogwheels with all that we have gone thru with our knees ( hips and shoulders) I see nothing but good in carrot cake. It's a veggie and good for your eyes, raisins help with digestion etc. so go for it. Me carrot cake is my favorite so I would have eaten the whole cake.

Hi @dogwheels I hope you're ok? Just lurking around in the early hours. I have had some sleep but I'm awake and fed up. Playing candy crush and candy manipulating but they're making my eyes hurt and I'm getting fed up with CC a bit now. Definitely a Member of the ODIC today. Gardening finished me off. I get out there as I love it so much and then overdo it. I will post a pic of the pond where rattus is living still. Hubby told me off today because I forgot and left the back door open! Whoops!

Have you heard from yours since he left? I had to laugh when you said about his brother phoning and he usually dives for cover. Mine does that too. However, he does have six! The eldest is the worst for the phone. Any excuse, no matter how trivial and he's on it!

I'll check on you in the morning. I'm a lot more settled tonight. I think my problem was these med tbh last night. Did you manage to do any of your crafting?

Take care chat to you later. Love Nana moon 27 xxxx

Good morning @Nana moon 27 - what were you up to lurking around in the wee small hours again?
Had a nice lay in this morning and am just having my coffee and catching up on here. Couldn't resist the NHS rant first thing on your thread though, I am so incensed about the treatment Yorkshire Gal and others are being subject to.
No I haven't heard anything from 'Captain Birdseye' :heehee: - didn't really expect to. He travelled so much when he was working and he rarely bothered then - perhaps just a few words in a text or a really quick call. He will probably check up on me today though. They sail through the night and take it in turns to be 'in charge' 'on standby' or 'asleep' - and they have to have their wits about them when going through the shipping lanes in the Channel, especially at night, so they will be catching up on a bit of sleep in rotation I expect today.
I had a lovely crafty afternoon yesterday, and got to work on a nice wooden dining chair. Went for something a bit different this time. I came by some old 1930s sheet music (I have loads of my own but that's off limits!) and the artwork on the covers is really good. So I am trying out using that that and scraps of the old music. Its quite a long process, but looking at it this morning, I think it will work well.
Off to post elsewhere now - talk later.
