No more days? What? Wait.... ONE Sleep?

So.... Today it's 7. FIVE is coming. I'm afraid of 5. Five is when the OS instructions say to shower with a freshly washed wash cloth. Dry with a freshly washed towel. Put on freshly washed PJs and sleep on freshly washed sheets. On day 5&4&3&2&1.

Perhaps I am not afraid of The Day as I am all that washing!

I TOTALLY understand all the laundry. Towels, sheets etc. and..my washer decided to stop. Got it done and washer repaired when I got home. How to wash all the stuff left!

Have I missed something nothing was said to me at pre op about clean sheets or showering etc they took swabs for MRSA nose armpit and groin and asked me not to use any anti-perspirant moisturiser after shave etc. I need to be at hospital 7am Wednesday morning so was planning to have my monthly shower (joking) the night before with regular shower gel hadn't thought about bedsheets but would make sense to change them may call hospital tomorrow to see if any shower gel is ok.

@mcopt - maybe we're just more uptight about it here in the states. Or they may just plan on doing the Hibiclens prep at the hospital. Likely significant overkill but intention is to reduce chance of infection. Monthly shower a day early would be good, though!

We are all doing our best to follow doctors' orders. My OS provided wonderful into. My instructions are to have clean wash clothes, towels, and pj's and sheets every night for the 5 nights before surgery. I have a feeling no one else here at this moment needs 5 nights of freshly washed sheets.

Perhaps it is a difference in protocol between States and UK? Let us know what you find out @mcopt. Now I am curious.

Will do @MammaT , I have been careful, obviously, and have set aside clean /new clothes to use whilst going to and in hospital will call them in the morning and check I am not missing anything.

You're going to need and get a break from laundry after all the sheet washing and changing AD.
I'd go nuts :hairpulling:

It seems like you have the most strict protocol of all, AD? Martin doesn't even have to shower!:rotfl:
Have you ever thought of using the old tennis balls on the walker like you see in the senior centers.
A bunch of seniors pushing around walkers with chartreuse tennis balls on the bottom...gonna be us soon :heehee:
With the exception of that youngin, Sara :happyfeet:
@AgilityDog

@Walkinginthesand That's so sad. You have my sympathies for a dead washing machine at any time, but especially now. Bummer.

Laundry has got so bad here, that I am going to sweet talk the housekeeper that I am using right now, and see if she will change sheets on "my" bed and my husband's bed (he has moved to the guest room for the time being). While she is here, I am hoping she can get at least two sets washed and put away in two hours. At least hubby is doing his clothes laundry and some of mine.

@Layla Re tennis balls on the walker. Made me laugh. It's one of the ways we attempt to test therapy dog candidates. You don't want a Golden Retriever, or a Standard Poodle (also a retriever) going after the wheels of a walker for the tennis balls! I've seen it happen and it's not pretty! :dogsniff:

Oh no! @Poodles. I never thought of that! I'll bet dogs would like those tennis balls.
That's a scary thought...pets underfoot going after tennis balls when you're unstable on your feet.

I've seen it suggested that you find some old toddler shoes for your walker wheels.....now that would make you stand out from the crowd :egypdance:

I keep looking at my walker my next door neighbour has lent me , it's parked up in the garage next to my motorcycles I keep wondering if I could fit the engine from my Harley Davidson into it that would certainly keep me ahead of any chasing dogs :running::doggie:

@AgilityDog I had the 5 day sheet washing/showering routine and I'm in the UK. It was the end of September/early October so managed to get it dry outside but did think the neighbours might think one of us had incontinence issues! I had a chart given to me which marked the dates on because on some of the days I had to wash my hair with the shower gel which thankfully had a nice smell. I finished up the bottle when I came home. I think the routine of doing something constructive helped me through the last few days.

well bicycles have engines now, so why not @mcopt? Fit a couple of skateboards to the legs as well and you'll go like the wind! Something to think about while you're in hospital? Good luck tomorrow :yay:

Hi I am in the UK and had to wash with the hibiclens three days before including my hair with special attention to my nose. I didn't mind as it made me feel prepared

That's what I was thinking, @EmEm ! Did you wash the sheets that were stored in a cabinet or drawer so they were 'fresh'? I guess I need to wash DH before bed, too. :heehee:

I like the visual @anny . Skateboards and a walker and a big engine. A loud engine :hog: @mcopt , and maybe nice shiny pipes.

They said neck to toes @Bevlah and not my hair or face, with the Hibiclense. Nothing special for my hair, but I haven't attended class yet. :puppysmooze:

I don’t have to do anything special with hair. They also reinforce to not use hibicleanse on private parts:dubious:

OH had already been relegated to another room so it was just me to wash! I use a duvet with a cover and that would be a pain to do each day so only washed bottom sheet, flat top sheet (bought to put between me and duvet) and pillowcases. I work at home so just stripped the bed each morning, washed the sheets and put back on the bed when dry.
I just remembered that the showering prep counted day of surgery as day 5. The solution I was given to use was manufactured in Germany where according to Dr friend, the surgeons shower before and after surgery. I didn't like to ask my OS whether he had showered before my surgery!
