Oh that first time going back to work. I too was so exhausted by end of day and had sleep issues. I would go home and get in recliner and end up napping that when I went to bed I had hard time getting to sleep. Watched the clock a lot through out the night. It seemed that once I got back into the work routine it stopped.

Hope you make it to office party because that is something to look forward to and have a little bit of fun. Sorry about the long commute.

Hi Chef, sounds like you are easing back to work.

Have you ever felt like you were so tired you couldn't sleep? I have been going through this recently. I know I am over doing things and under tons of stress. I really need sleep but it is as if the body just can't give in.

Don't fight it I guess. Just find the balance. Hope you can get some rest!

Well I survived my first week back at work. I worked from home on Wednesday and Thursday as planned and made it to the office party on Friday. It really isn't too difficult but I do get tired pretty quickly. The drive is the hardest part.

Next week I have a couple medical appointments so it looks like another 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

Thursday I see a pain managment specialist so we will see how that goes.

Hope everyone is healing well.

If I got tired when I returned to work I went up for a lay on the bed for half an hour instead of the couch after tea.
This appeared to work a treat and her indoors was real considerate and told me to do what I felt was best.
I feel this helped with my recovery listen to your body chef if it's saying it needs a lay down do it.

Hi Chef,

I've been reading your posts since my surgery and felt for you when you had said about the long commute nd the cold weather sorry! Gold you did make it through you first week and hope it gets easier each week, you are ahead of me in the recovery I relate a little to the tiredness today I walked twice about 200 ft each time and it total wiped me out...so when I think driving and all day in an office I would be ahhhhhhhhh!!

Hope get stronger and stronger.....

All the best,

Sarah

Gold you did make it in English is Glad you did make it......silly iPad errors!!

I did wonder! :wink1: Sarah, you do know you can edit your posts, don't you? Just hit the Edit button but don't forget to Save it when you're done.

Chef

You seem to be doing pretty well. Steady progress is the best we can ask for.

I went back to work yesterday (Monday) and felt pretty tired by about 3.00PM. Today was much better but the long commute doesn't help.

It will take you time to get back your levels of stamina. I know it did for me the first time.

Good wishes.

Dave

The days do get easier, then there is the occassional set back (reality check).

Today was my appointment with the Pain Management specialist. He has a different idea and put me on a different medication and suggested, as I've wanted, to get off the Percocet. He thought this might sort it self out pretty quickly. So I requested another refill on the Percocet with my OS and let them know I'd like to wind that down.

I still have substantial pain after therapy (relative to no pain but minor compared to pre-surgery). Those days require some additional pain relief. I also still don't get much sleep but I am starting to function on fewer hours.

Christmas is only 10 days away - for those not counting. 2 1/2 weeks to 2012. Gotta be a better year than 2011...

Hi chef

Missed you buddy :)

Seeing an actual pain management specialist is a brilliant idea. To get a specific analysis of your pain and then to completely review your Meds and to have the specialty to come up with a different approach and set of protocols.

This makes a lot of sense to me that such a specialist should be part of our medical support team.

Now we just need to get you to a sleep specialist and sort your lack of sleep out. We all know how important sleep is to the whole healing process.

Chat soon, Sandy :) :)

It has been a couple weeks so I thought a quick update was in order.

I'm currently fighting with the insurance company on some new medication that hopefully will help with the pain. The Percocet has worn out its welcome and isn't providing relief anymore. Hopefully Tuesday I will learn an "insurance company approved" medication will be called into my pharmacy. So far the first two got denied.

I have moderate pain and stiffness in my bionic knee that seems to be getting worse, not better. I saw the OS partner last week, they took xrays, and said everything is structurally good. I will give it some time once I'm on the new meds then figure out if I need to have it looked at more carefully.

It is a new year. Time to look forward and not back. I hope everyone is healing well.

Chef

Missed you here....

xx

Hi Chef, good to see you here again. Sorry your knee is playing up. Are you icing at all?

Happy New Year Chef,

it's good to hear from you! Sorry your knee is bothering you at this point that's not good! How is your hip? Hope the insurance comes through with an approval on new pain Meds for you and this helps eliminate your pain. Sorry!!

All the best,

Sarah

Happy New Year Chef,

I sure don't like hearing that your bionic knee is hurting, sure hope that gets resolved.

Isn't insurance always fun with fighting over meds? They sometimes just don't truely understand what people go through.

Hope you feel better soon and I am home watching Ohio State play my Gators !! Hopefully you are doing the same thing.

Good luck in your battle with insurance, Chef. Be strong....don't give up!

I finally got my new Rx today unfortunately it doesn't rank very high on the pain relief part. But this is what the insurance company wants, it will be my second Rx and if this doesn't work I should be able to get the one the Pain Management doctor really wants me to have.

Next week will probably be my first full week back AT work - weather permitting. The owner has been extremely understanding when I have asked to work from home. I probably don't need to ask, but out of courtesy I normally float it past him.

Keep moving everyone...

Hyia chef, early am here...... Still cosy in bed...... Not moving!!! :):)
