I spoke with my PMS last night and they finally got back to me an hour ago since he was in surgery all morning.

They want me to stop taking the Neurontin. Wean me back to 1 per day for 3 days and stop. Then see what happens with the tinnitus. Wonder what they will put me on next:scratch: Hey, maybe Cymbalta???

Sounds like a fun weekend. I think I'm back to taking 3-4 Aleve. Orrrrrr, I still have about 15 Percocet:secretaea:

Good morning Chef (Sat 7:23am)....

Sounds to me like they are working through the alphabet of drugs with you :) I just hope that one works soon and you feel better...

John, just woke up and I mentioned the tinnitus... He has it very loud...

Jo, he said to mention to you (Heheheheh!) that it is also caused by loud explosives going off all around his head, while someone was shooting at him... He said he doesn't want it fixed because he uses it as an excuse when I ask him to do something, goes something like this.... 'what was that?, sorry can't hear you'.... I think it's called selective hearing, but I think its got to be a general male trait!... Any comments Chef?

p.s. chef, John just said, if they fix it for you.... Don't tell anyone, just keep using the excuse.

Oh Chef, I was hoping the Neurontin would provide some immediate relief. I guess we'll see how things go this weekend.

Sandy:

Well, like I mentioned before when I went to the ENT he said my hearing was normal for a 50 year old. Guess it wasn't my wife giving the test... Pay attention John...

Chef

Oh! Poor John..... Have to be gentle with him today he is Not a happy camper right now... check my thread.... he could use some of those explosives right now! He so wants his new toy (iPhone)

Don't you just hate these side effects from drugs... If that is the cause.

I actually got tinnitus when we changed phones many years ago, just a thought, did your symptoms coincide with your new phone?

Hi Chef,

Well, it seems you are relegated to spending another weekend weaning off something and starting up a new med... haven't you had about everything in the medicine cabinet by now???

I will loan you my nike logo shirt above in my avatar photo for the next PMS appointment -- you let them know you expect them to go forward with the authorization process through your insurance company to get some Cymbalta. Since you are the HR person do you have a good connection with someone from the health insurance company who can help you navigate their system in a way that is beneficial to your situation?

Sorry the tinnitus is continuing on, I think that Sandy and Jo have good ideas for continuing to look into it a little deeper.

Take care,
Cardie

How long ago was the hearing test Chef? I too have had tinnitus for many years but since I've gotten my new hearing aids I do not notice it at all when I am wearing them! The ambient noises that I pick up seems to totally cover up the "in my head" noises ;)

Well the tinnitus has improved with the reduction of Neurontin.

The drug of the week is Nabumetone, 500mg, 2x day. We shall see what it does for me.

I have had bilateral knee replacements and I think the hip recovery is slower. But my dtr reminds me I'm 6 yrs older! Good luck!

Hi Chef,

Good news on the tinnitus hopefully it will continue to improve! This new drug seems more inline with hip stuff, pain etc. I've never heard of any of these drugs every time I have to look up just to get the scoop :)

Hope you had fun watching the Super Bowl? Plus had a good Monday!!

xxooxx

:thumb: Sounds like things may indeed improve. Keep us posted Chef!

Hi Chef

Good news about the reduction in the tinnitus.

The new drug Nambumetone sounds good, metabolized rapidly in the liver, low renal involvement, low gastric acidity. All sounds promising... Hopefully this works for you soon, fingers crossed xxxx

Hiya Chef,

Didn't check out the half life on it - what is it?

Sorry Chef, it's 10 pm, time to log off.. Not sure if you are active on your thread right now... Thought we could have a quick chat?

Wheeee! 20-24 hours plasma half life... That is long!

Goodnight Zzzzz xx

Calling Chef :):):):):

How are you doin?

Hugs from OZ

Oh Chef,

This is just not fair for you.. I can't believe that it is taking so long for them to sort out your med regime...

What is your next plan?

I am 'befuddled' for you my good friend xxxxx
