New hip feb 6

I love that you and @Mascaramom are not only the same age, but mom's of young children,
AND share the same surgery date too!! How fun for you to journey through recovery together and share
funny kid stories.
I'm going to tune in.....I'll get the popcorn ready :heehee:
You two are young, strong and healthy .....you're going to do great!!

I love how supportive you all are! I’ve had a rough two days. I had my hip clinic yesterday and a presurg appt today that lasted almost 4 hours. :( they took blood, did an ekg, X-rays, talked with the anesthetist, etc, etc. I’m really down and tired tonight. I didn’t sleep well last night between the pain and road noise from being on the other side of the house. Not looking forward to Tuesday. I’m tired of being poked and prodded and it hasn’t even started yet. Sorry, I’m just feeling sorry for myself. I’m trying to look on the bright side, but tonight it’s harder than usual.

Those last days before surgery can be harder than after. You hurt, you may not be able to take all your meds and you're probably just a bit nervous or anxious. You may find you're calmer on the day of surgery than now! Breathe in and breathe out. Repeat. You will get there and you can rest then!

Aww, Hipster
We get it. It's hard. You're trying to care for your family, your home,
make those last appts and double check you have all in order for your recovery.
Add to that any pre-surgery jitters and it feels overwhelming!

Just think...you'll be in recovery at this time next week. Most likely back home!
Surgery will be in the rear view and you'll be on your way. You'll be surprised how quickly
recovery moves. By March you'll be amazed at how wonderful you feel!
Hang on....you're almost there. Hugs :console2:
@hipster333

@SaraK and @Layla you both made me cry. Thank you. These were happy tears vs the other ones today. It’s so nice talking to people who understand what you’re going through. I think my husband is starting to think I’m just losing it. Lol. It is a happy reminder that I should be home a week from today. :) hugs to all. Going to try to sleep.

Hang in there @hipster333. Next week this time you, @Mascaramom and I will all be working on a new type of normal. With the post op pain there will actually be things you can do that bring relief. We’ll be getting around on our walkers, probably slowly, icing, elevating and binge watching Netflix.

This will be a journey...with a huge payoff at the end.
Nerve wracking I know, but I have never regretted all it took to get me here.
I'm 9 months post-op and except for my battle scars, actually have a life that doesn't revolve around hip pain or recovery...(except time spent on BS, of course:heehee:)
Yay for getting new hip:egypdance:

Hope today is a better than yesterday @hipster333
Try to stay busy over the weekend as a distraction, it may help.
Don't forget us if your having a bad day, hour, minute....
We're here and we'll try our best to walk you through.
Sending a hug and warm wishes for a day of comfort and peace of mind.

Much better day today. Thank you to everyone! It helped getting 7 hrs of sleep last night. (ok I was up a couple of times, but that's still great for me!) @Layla this weekend is super busy with my daughter's birthday hair/makeup and sleepover (and momma gets her hair done too so I look presentable for surgery---or just so I can go longer without the greys driving me crazy) lol. I was worried about overwhelming myself with all the activity this weekend, but I think it's going to be a blessing and I'm really happy that I decided to work on Monday so I'll be distracted there too. @Mascaramom I'm glad it's not just me who's husband is driving them crazy too. I'm ultra sensitive right now so when he decided to just sit around playing his video game and talking to people about normal everyday things with me crying nearby I almost lost it. He never knows what to do when I cry. Lucky for him he smartened up and let me vent on how I was feeling and what a rough day it had been. Here's to a new day and more optimistic thoughts :) Hope everyone is having a great day. @MammaT I'll be thinking of you on Monday!

@hipster333 you're braving a sleepover??? Even with a good hip I think I'm too chicken to do that lol lol. I'm a retired cosmetologist and used to have my own salon. I will admit it was really fun when my customers would bring in their kids. They all feel so grown up.

My husband was lucky to make it out alive today.:bolt: We usually make an incredible team, but when something is affecting me that he cannot control, (sadness, pain, sickness) his military mindset (PTSD) kicks in, and he gets agitated. That makes me MAD! LOL I MIGHT make him sleep in the truck. Lolol

@Mascaramom they’ve had a few sleepovers now and are usually really great together. The nice part is that I don’t need to entertain them anymore. As long as I take care of the food they’re happy. :) That’s so awesome that you had your own salon! I wish you lived closer and you could have helped with my daughter. :) tomorrow should be fun with her. I love mom daughter bonding time. Looking forward to being more active when all of this is over!
Hopefully hubby stops making you mad. I get that it’s hard for them because they can’t make it better right now. Hopefully they realize they’ll have lots of control making our lives easier after surgery. :) Four more sleeps. We’ve got this!

You are both doing great. I understand husbands driving you nuts. I will tell you-appreciate them! I have moments when I wish mine was still here to do some of his stupid stuff that would drive me crazy.

Next week starts recovery. Enjoy the weekend ladies-we will have a totally different one next week!

I remind myself of that with my father now quite a bit. Good reminder

I think our significant others get really frustrated because they can't do anything to make this go away. They have no control of any of this. Sure, they can support you. But at least in my case my SO had no clue how to support me. So we go it alone and let them get on with the trivial stuff.

Trouble is you have to keep reminding yourself and your OH that you are discharged from hospital TO recover, not recovered. Just because you aren't spending the day in bed doesn't mean you can jump back into the activity.

Ladies - you are going to do great!

@MommaT I’m so sorry he isn’t going through this with you. I am very grateful mine is here. Hugs
@Jaycey you’re absolutely right about having to remind them and ourselves that we need to recover. I find I tend to push myself to much so knowing that I’ll need to really pull back. Ice. Exercise and rest. :)
